Guest services have been online on my behalf to provide me with the following information...clearly they have no idea who we are to complain to. Please can someone check the info for me as I have no idea if this info is current coming from the internet and not current info :

The above information appeared in an envelope in my bedroom attached to a Customer Services contact information card.

Well....that would be the information for US Customs & Border Patrol....apparently they are blaming the fiasco all on them.:)

Hi Mark and Susan,

Thanks for posting the information for anyone who wishes to take this further. I'm still going to persist here to get the name of who on board was responsible for liaising with the RCCL staff on the pier.

Had a long conversation with the loyalty ambassador last night who had been inundated with complaints. Apparently my voice was raised as I could be heard for some distance.....

Forget to mention that last night they handed out the bag of laundry special which I don't require.

Heading out to San Juan shortly with some friends. I believe we're visiting the Bacardi factory....

Did you by chance get an email address for the Loyalty Ambassador?

San Juan, sunshine, wind blowing through your hair, a rummy punch and all is well with the world☺

Thanks for the pics of St. Kitts. That island which I have not been to, and the 8 night itinerary, are the reasons that I am considering this cruise.

We really enjoyed the time there!!! A little sunburnt right now!!

Haven't read through this as I'm just popping on from San Juan, will have to catch up when I get home.

Did want to throw out my two cents...

While the giant line was annoying, long, and disorganized. Once on board it was behind me kind of out of sight out of mind. We stood in line for about 2 hours and boarded about 1. At one point RC employees were handing out cups of water, but I don't think it made it that far down the line.

It's been a nice cruise so far, and as usual, time is flying by!! An hour and a half left in San Juan and Labadee is tomorrow.

The problem with embarkation is that RCCL knew there was going to be a line WITH or WITHOUT the coast guard inspection! They chose to make no contingency plans to try and help the elderly people who could not stand for 2 1/2 hours as we did. We are in our early 50's and we were fine but sunburned! My head got pretty sunburned as i did not realize i needed a hat!

That is the issue... no restrooms, no soft drinks or water, no shade, no seats.

Its not a cruise killer for us, but I really saw why people are angry! And I agree!!!!!

there would have been a line even if they had boarded on time! just not as long in the sun.

the ambulance was a nice touch!

I've been reading this blog as we are going on the Navigator in mid-January. I just have to say that I don't understand why one would make it a week's long mission to complain. Things happen and people just have to adjust. We were scheduled to go on a Princess cruise right after dry dock for renovations. The ship was not ready when we showed up and the lines got very long. After awhile, they bused us to a convention center to wait until the ship was cleared for passengers. They were even asking for passengers to give up their cruise for a refund and free cruise in the future because they needed cabins for the workers that still needed to complete work while the ship was sailing. The casino, as well as an additional restaurant, was not opened the whole trip because it was not complete. Once the ship was ready for boarding, it was a mad dash to the pier and the lines were sooooooo long (in San Juan). We ended getting on the ship after 8:00 p.m. when we originally showed up at the pier around 11:00 in the morning. It was an experience and something to talk about, but once we were on the ship, it was behind us. It was not my week long mission to berate the employees or demand acknowledgement. That, in my opinion, is a waste of my time. The people that had to endure the lines are not going to get a free cruise or anything for the inconvenience, so why make it a huge issue. There are too many other things to enjoy on a cruise and it is not worth the time to make a big deal about something, that may or may not have been in the cruise line's control. If I have to wait in line to get on the cruise, it won't be the first time and it probably won't be the last. Let it go. Just my opinion.

My cruise, my gripe.

Just popped on to say we had free alcohol served this afternoon around the pool and in the Deck 5 Lounge. It states in the Compass : A Drink on the House (Champagne, Mimosa, Screwdriver, Yellow Bird or a Fruit Punch).

According to Leroy, Head Bar Manager, it was supposed to be by way of an apology for the boarding situation. Just saying.

Hello fellow Michiganders,

Thank you for your post.

I do agree with you that a long line to board a cruise ship is not a cruise killer- seems that Linda and probably you too are enjoing your cruise.

But I also believe that there should be some accomodations for the people that come to board the ship. If pier 29 is used by both cargo ships ( today , tommorow) and cruise ships ( Constallation on the 3d and Navigator on 4th) a least the port authority / management should set up some tents with chairs, portable restrooms and water. I think that should be the ports obligation. It is not the cruise line fault that the basics are not provided by the port.

Some people are writing that it is not a big deal to wait in the sun for many hours - just wait when you are there : in the sun, possibly in the rain and you need to use a restroom ....... maybe you will complain too.

If no one will say anything / "complain" - nothing will change.

Lee and Kath could you please take a look where table 57( MDR) is located on the 5th floor and let me know - thank you.

Wes

Just wondering why the gripe when you said that you were inside waiting.

Maybe because some people take into consideration how others were treated and don't just think of themselves? And if the complaints about this cruise make things better for those of us to come on future cruises then I, for one, will be very grateful.

Sorry, but I doubt that is the reason for the gripe - for the betterment of everyone else, and it is pretty naive to think that things are going to change for the rest of the cruisers when this was an inspection that does not occur at every cruise.

Ok, I put forth my theory for the gripe. What is yours?

My theory is looking for something free. I know from our Princess cruise experience that a lot of the other people on the cruise were complaining because they wanted a free cruise, shipboard credits or free liquor for the cruise. Their complaints were not geared toward changing policy or procedures for those cruising in the future. Trust me, I heard it all on that cruise. Yes, it was an inconvenience but once we were on the ship, in my mind that was over.

Well I have been reading this whole blog from the beginning. I do have to say a few things.

1. Enough with the long line stuff. Unfortunatly it happended. Where I work it is not uncommon to have more than 1 hour wait for attractions during peak periods.

2. I was hopping to hear more about the cruise then everyone commenting on the embarkation process.

3. Port Everglades should have better set up for Terminal 29. I will give you my opionion once I get back from my cruise as I will be leaving from 29.

4. The Navigator is an extra ship this winter because she was originally scheduled to be overseas. They moved her in April probably after the Port schedule was done. Thus since the Navigator is the odd ship out she gets 29.

5. I am looking forewared in getting away for a week and letting other crew member provide the "Magic" instead of myself.

Well that is all that I have to say. Just a one more work day to go till VACATION.
