Flipper133 Posted November 26, 2011 #1 Share Posted November 26, 2011 Does any one know what the deal is with the MUTS programming in Sun Princess (and for that matter Sea and Dawn P) Promos on the American sites suggest that all sorts of shows are broadcast - including movies, news and sports I would be keen to watch some of the Big Bash Cricket series being conducted over December/January - especially matches involving the Brisbane Heat team on our NYE cruise on Sun P Has anyone got any experience/ideas on what happens on these "Australianised" ships I Intend speaking with Princess on this matter, but I welcome any input before I do cheers
Aus Traveller Posted November 26, 2011 #2 Share Posted November 26, 2011 When we were on the Sun Princess earlier this year I think they only had movies and the Royal wedding (by popular demand). Sports are probably more likely screened in the sports bar near the casino.:) We were not overly impressed with MUTS. Before our SP cruises this year I had read about MUTS on the Princess Board and was looking forward to experiencing it. One night it was reasonable, but the main problem was that in good weather they set up the Sterling Steakhouse on the open section of deck overlooking the pool area and the people there objected to the sound of the movie. Therefore we had Silent Movies Under the Stars (SMUTS). We literally couldn't hear one word of the movie dialogue.
kuldalai Posted November 26, 2011 #3 Share Posted November 26, 2011 We were dissappointed with MUTS, grossly overrated . 1. A lot of rubbish and B grade movies are generally shown just for the sake of having something on the screen at all hours . 2. During the day they screen a lot of MTV noisy teeney bopper music stuff which is totally out of place when 90 % of those on board are over 50 . 3. They did show AFL Grand Final sportswise IIRC, and also the recent Royal wedding . Princess entertainment should look more closely at their majority age profile by ship and program the MUTS accordingly to suit . Also movies could be more cruise suited: Viz: show R & H South Pacific on cruises from Australia to the Pacific Islands, Lord of the Rings on cruises to New Zealand etc . bazzaw Posted November 26, 2011 #4 Share Posted November 26, 2011 Too hot during the day to sit in the sun watching it - too many other things to do at night. Sporting events should be kept to a place where only those who want to watch them - can! :) Barry
Rare Kinkacruiser Posted November 26, 2011 #5 Share Posted November 26, 2011 I'm taking earplugs next time if they decide to show sport, but the underwater videos with soft background music are cool.
Billy and Charlie's Mum Posted November 26, 2011 #6 Share Posted November 26, 2011 Turns me off going out to the pool area to relax.... too noisy (maybe they think everyone onboard are old, therefore deaf)
Rassa Posted November 26, 2011 #7 Share Posted November 26, 2011 The worst of MUTS is the repetition during the day - ie cruise director yak yak yak, same thing over and over. But, I also found the underway stuff soothing and interesting, but also repetitive. Noisy during the day - maybe a little. However, there is also the good stuff at night, the odd good movie or i.e. Paul McCartney in concert or the three tenors in concert. I don't mind it and I quite like sitting on the deck chairs and watching something good. Rosie
