PH suites

Can anyone that has stayed in one of the M class penthouse suites tell me, what you liked or disliked about it the state room? We booked one for this May to Alaska, and thinking we should maybe bump down to a royal suite. We have stayed in Royal suites (equal to a PH) on RCCL, and you get a large suite with sparkling wine, long stem red roses, boxed chocolates, a lot of attention from the hotel staff, but that was about it. What if anything is special in Celebrity PH suites?

Hi,

Don't even think about moving.... The space, the luxury, and the feeling of being "at home" are incredible.

And on an Alaska cruise you have ALL that marvelous outdoor space you'd completely lose by moving to a Royal Suite. From either of the Penthouse suites on an M-class you have expansive views. Moving to a Royal Suite you sacrifice that view, and in Alaska view is what it's all about.

Please stay put.

I have stayed in a Royal Suite on Infinity and in PH suite on Summit. I had booked a RS on Summit but the price of PH dropped so that difference was about $500. So it was a "no-brainer" to upgrade.

You cannot believe how spacious the PH is. It has to be at least twice the size of the RS. Your balcony takes up one-half of the width of the ship! The living room is HUGE with a baby grand, large dining table, full size sofa, etc. There is also a butler's pantry with a full size frig. The full bath is to die for - a huge window over tub looks out over your balcony.. Just can't say enough about accommodations in PH. You can easily find pix that will show you all this.

The staff was extra -attentive for PH. Attentive as well for RS but PH is just a step above. We got a personal escort from the embarkation desk to the PH! We got best table (IMO) in dining room. We are not very demanding but I had the distinct impression that the staff was willing to accommodate any request. Of course you get the canapes every afternoon and a bottle of champagne. I just can't recall what else, but it seemed to me that we also got some soft drinks.

To me, it probably would come down to price. How much more is the PH than the RS? Since you are already OK with paying for PH then this may not be the deciding factor for you.

I just got off the December 3 cruise on the Millie and stayed in PH with our friends in the PH next door.

Yes, you will have half of the whole back of the ship and more balcony on the side. It was wonderful. In addition to fruit and sparking wine, we also had scotch and vodka along with mixers in the butlers pantry. Afternoon tea was brought to the room at 3 daily and canapes at 5. We enjoyed having coffee served in the suite in the morning, and also hosted several dinner parties, alternating between the two suites. I even brought Christmas music so we could make use of the piano, although it does play by itself.

We received Elite benefits, were treated to a complimentary dinner in the Olympic and also were invited to dine with the captain. It was so nice, we rarely left the suite and invited our friends in the enjoy it with us most of the time. The extra room and the butler service were over the top - don't even THINK about moving. This is a perfect spot to enjoy an Alaskan cruise from. Savor every minute of it!

Thank you both!

We originally booked a royal suite and then upgraded when a PH became avail. We are very easy going, grounded, & down to earth people. I can't imagine having a butler, and frankly I'm not sure what to even ask of one. Butlers aren't included on RCCL. I was hoping that maybe we can invite the cruise connection online friends in for a sail away. I'm not sure how to extend the invitation in a way to not look like we are showing off, but just wanting to share the view with them.

I know exactly what you mean. Darned if you invite and darned if you don't. Some will think you are showing off and others will think you are jealously guarding your turf and don't want to share. I would suggest that you do what you want to do and if people get into a snoot thinking you are showing off, you can show them to the door, or better yet, have your butler do it... I know I would love to be invited to a sail-away in a PH suite. Your butler will gladly arrange for snacks and beverages to be delivered for the party.

Wow how exciting, you had the entire back of the ship between the two PH suites! Were you able to open the divider in between the two?

So are you telling me you also got free bar set up as well? We though about ordering bar set up, if it come with the suite that will be wonderful, but can you ask for something other than vodka and scotch? Again this is not heard of on RC. So how does one arrange for a dinner party in your suite?

You certainly do sound like a very grounded and non-pretentious soul. So, invite the CC folk in and have a party! They'll know by your demeanor and attitude that all you're doing is sharing with everyone your 'coup d'stateroom' at getting a wonderful, affordable upgrade. :D:D

And with the stunning views and outstanding service, they'll be thanking you the whole cruise!

With the butler service in the penthouse, parties are fine. And if you're planning to do a sailaway party, do mention it to your butler ASAP on embarkation day. Likewise, if you're having a sailaway party from individual ports (or having a gathering on whatever day you're at a glacier), the butler will be readily available to assist you with refreshments and such.

The suites butlers truly do go above & beyond to assist their guests. For many who enjoy the luxury of an M-class penthouse, being able to share it with friends (and often Cruise Critic folk) is one of the best reasons to splurge. While the butlers and assistant stateroom attendants are perfectly accustomed to having parties in the penthouse and royal suites, a commensurate tip at the end of your cruise is a wonderful gesture on your part.

Thanks FranklinPA, I laughed when you said if people get into a snoot thinking you are showing off, you can show them to the door, or better yet, have your butler do it...

OH Now I know what to do with a butler. LOL ;)!

Thanks again!

Definitely invite your CC friends! Everybody loves an amazing private party!

I have a bunch of photos from the PH of the infinity if you want me to post them!

As far as butler service goes its a really nice perk to have, just simple things like bringing you a cappachino, breakfast or a full dinner in the suite, helping with table arrangements, dining reservations and all that. Often I have found that the dinners in suite are hotter (warm bread!) and better prepared.

Even DH who used to say things like " what do I need a butler for!?". Now cannot cruise without one

Thank you, I would love it if you could post the PH pics of the Infinity. This is the ship we will be on/6147. I can't wait to see and hear what they did on the refurbishment. I hear all the beds and furniture is newly updated.

As my daughter loves to say "You Go Girl". Do the party and have a blast. As others have said, get the butler involved as soon as you board and he will do a great job for you. It will be a party to remember and, as their slogan says, Celebrity will treat you famously.

We could not open the divider, but that didn't stop us from enjoying being next to each other.

Yes, the bar set up was complimentary. I have heard that the butler would be willing to switch out liquor for you as well, but as our friends like what we had, we kept it. The butler even brought olives and olive juice for my sister's favorite dirty martinis.

As far as the dinner party, just tell your butler what time, how many and he will bring you the menus. You order just like in the main dining room and it is served course by course.

I know what you mean about not knowing what to do with a butler. We had never had one before, but he was so nice, he made it easy for us. We had planned to go up to the CC gathering and invite them up, but we had a great invite to a private sailaway on the helipad. Too good to pass up. I did run into one CCer and invited him up. The space is great to share and if people think you are showing off, well, that's too bad. We were happy to share. Enjoy!

Kathisu, you sound so sweet, and how special is that, that the butler brought olives and olive juice for your sisters dirty martinis.

Thanks so much for all the advice and info from everyone!

One question was the private sail away party on the helipad something that they invite PH suite guest too? If so was it worth it? DH and I always pop the bubbly and have a drink with some choc dipped strawberries, usually by ourselves. I know boring! I works for us, but thought we'd do something different this time.

Thank you, Gina. As for the helipad sailaway, all of us in the PH were invited, but others were as well, including my sister and another friend who were both in concierge class. I was definitely worth it. Very private and hosted by many of the officers on board. It is short, so you could always go back and enjoy your bubbly and strawberries after the helipad sailaway is through. Not boring - fun. Vacation is time to enjoy - I truly hope you do it. It was on my bucket list and am so glad I did!

Several years ago we sailed on the 14 day repo from Vancover to LA on Summit. The penthouse resident invited the folks on the CC board to a sail away party. It went so well and he had so much fun that he invited us back for the day in Glacier Bay. What great times! FYI, he talked to the folks at Celebrity BEFORE the cruise and they basically set up the sail away party. There were several servers in addition to the butler and one of the entertainers played the piano. We had invitations in our rooms and one of the butlers checked them and the attendee list ( provided before the cruise) as we entered the suite. BTW, one of the other CCers put out the word that it would be nice if we helped offset the cost so we each put some money in the pot. On glacier day, we had warm drinks and of course a great view!:)

  • 3 weeks later...

How fortunate! When we sailed on the Century last year, our CC sailaway was hosted by people in the PH suite (nothing in comparison, but still awesome). Was I jealous? You bet. Was I thrilled at being invited? You bet. We even had dinner one night with them. For sailaway, we all brought food and our own drinks though the host did provide some extras.

So enjoy and post pictures and a review on your return!

To receive even more encouragement to book the penthouse suite, all you need do is post the above statement on the roll call for your cruise. :D

Thanks so much Yayvaction! Wow the suite is beautiful, and what a bathroom! Now I'm getting excited about the suite. A week will go by way too fast, I won't what to leave!

Thanks again for sharing!

I will be looking forward to your comments on the cabin. We have one of the PH booked for November on the Summit. This will be our first time on Celebrity. :)

Hi DiamondSuiteCruiser,

INFACT (if you don't know this already) the Penthouse Suite on the Infinity is aprox 3x the size of the Royal Suites and the PH Veranda about 10x the size of an RS (1432 Sq Feet + 1098 Sq Feet for the Veranda **VS** 538 Sq Feet + 195 Sq Feet for the Veranda)...

AND as others have mentioned the Penthouse Suite is at the very back of the ship... as TOP SAIL GIRL has said, there are tons of great pictures for the M-Class PHs linked to the CC CELEBRITY BOARD as well as videos on UTube (I will see if I can't do a SEARCH to dig up some of them for you)

Cheers!
