Are drinks complimentary in....

My average is about 2000-2500$ / 7 days

As long as the players club has you on their radar - if they give the OK for the drink card, it's a done deal.

I have sat next to some people betting table max ($500), who asked for free drinks and were turned down. Of course, one particular guy did not help himself out in the situation --- being somewhat of a jerk, and not tipping! I could tell he was frustrated that I was getting free drinks while betting perhaps $75-$150/hand at the time. ;)

I am on their radar, i cruise twice a year and call them everytime prior to book, they offer special price. They told me they keep records of points for the last 24 months... since i average about 5000 to 7000 points a cruise, i qualify for their best promotion

Worst part is, i dont drink alcool ! It's pretty cheap for them, water, coke and occasional smoothie !

I usually get the basket with wine, photo coupons, bottle water and about 300$ in cash at the cage, Sometimes they throw a gift for my wife and son...

You may want to consider NCL or Celebrity - as they tend to comp better... free cruises, thousands off, etc...

We cruise with our 9 yo son, for now Carnival has the best product/price for us. The difference in price is usually quite significative too... Maybe when we will cruise as a couple, in 10 + years !

Understood - our first few years of cruising we exclusively sailed with Carnival as well.

Give the (NCL) Epic a try with your son -- he will LOVE the water slides!!! You can find some good deals if you check multiple dates and categories!

I have never paid for a drink in the casino, the pit boss comps my drinks while im at the black jack tables.

I'm guessing that's the $25/min table? Several years ago, when I played at the $5 tables, every now and then the pit folks would comp a drink. It is much more likely at the $25 table - though definitely not a given.

I think this is one of the worst policies Carnival has. They should be about giving out the CHEAPEST comp out there. I understand many people would try to "pretend" to gamble etc, but Vegas has no problem serving the gamblers and making sure non gamblers do not get comped drinks. It would raise the gambling revenue for Carnival, and keep the players happy. It really is a win win, maybe one day Carnival will realize that.

But a cruise ship is not Vegas and they're not trying to be.

Yep - when at sea, they realize that they're the "only game in town". Those who will gamble will likely buy their own drinks if they want to drink. Carnival will jump in to reward/encourage some on a case by case basis.

They also don't want a group of "non players" hogging the slot machines or table seats hoping to get a free drink. they don't want someone at a slot machine playing 1 quarter every 5 minutes, just to get a free drink. And quite frankly, neither do I. I do like to gamble and I don't want a struggle to find a slot machine because other people are trying for "free drinks" (I have no issue with other people who are playing to gamble - even those that bet really low).

When I've had the "drinks on us" card (earned both legs of B2B on the Dream and given at welcome aboard party on VIP casino cruise on the Miracle), I've gotten served drinks at an alarming pace sometimes (though I find early morning, it's tough to find a server in the casino).

I was served 5 or 6 tirimisu martinis within a space of less than 2 hours before dinner one night, and i think I turned a couple of offers.

I don't play anywhere near as much as some but usually get 5,000-8,000 points a cruise. Now we get the drink cards every time we cruise, usually some casino credit and we got a totally comped 8 day cruise in a suite. When NCL comps a cruise you have to pay the port fees and taxes so that adds up. Carnival didn't charge any port fees or taxes on the comped cruise. Also, if you're on their radar you get invites to the VIP cruises and I've received up to $1250 in casino cash plus the cabin was discounted some.

They (Carnival) have sent me a few invites for cruises - some free, some discounted. That's true about the port fees/taxes - I did have to pay those with Celebrity.

Each offer that Carnival has sent me was a cruise that I could not make happen (schedule wise). Eventually all the planets will line up! :)
