Are drinks complimentary in....

Oh, how I wish it were so. But alas, no. You must pay for the drinks. And if you earn enough points for the free drinks, well, like others have said..... They're not really "free". Kind of the same concept as the comps at a land casino. Once you lose, er..play enough - you get comps. Hence the "free" drinks.

Did Carnival stop the "drinks are on us" in the casino program?? I keep seeing so many who say no, and dont mention that they are if you gamble enough.

It's still ongoing. I also checked the recent Funtimes for the Carnival Magic and it's listed on the frist day on the second page.

It's still around. I just think A. Most people never play enough to qualify. B. It's not well advertised and folks don't know about it.

I read that on the Magic TA - a woman and 3 friends were all 'feeding' one slot machine in order to build up to that 1500 points - then that one woman would 'share' her drinks with the others while 'sitting' at a machine barely playing - to ensure getting those free drinks!:eek:

There are always going to be people who take advantage of things and who cheat and feel entitled. How sad! If I had been there to see that, I think I probably would have told someone working in the casino. That's really being cheap!

On my last cruise on Destiny, my friend got to the 1500 points, and got free drinks. It sounded great, but she kept getting hassled, trying to get hold of the free drink. Like, the cruise ended 11/5, and they wrote on her card that the free drinks expired 11/2, and stuff like that. It mostly irritated her, and you really just want to keep the gamblers very happy.

I always get the Drink on Us card on embarkation (ok, i am a gambler) and there is an unwritten rule, i think it's 1 drink / 30 minutes.

We have as well, on the ships which were running that deal in the last couple of years. Initially, it was not on many ships - and we have not sailed with them much this year!

Typically, to get drinks right off the bat, you have to be someone willing to wager thousands a day (at least at table games) and have a track record of doing so.

In the end... drinks may be FAR from "free"!

I play craps and on my last cruise some of the people playing with me kept getting "free" drinks, but I was starting with $40, and they started with $200. I do buy a few of the drinks in the casino bar that give you $5 free matched play, and I win enough to pay for a few drinks this way.
