createmem Posted January 6, 2012 #1 Share Posted January 6, 2012 We are cruising on Liberty of the seas next month. Want to dine in Chops and Portofino but don't know which nights. Also haven't seen the Venetian Dinner/white night before. Does that replace the typical Italian night. Thanks for the feedback!

createmem Posted January 6, 2012 Author #4 Share Posted January 6, 2012 Thanks! Did they seriously get rid of the Gran Marnier Souffle on Gala night and replace it with some Chocolate souffle - that was the one dessert I would look so forward to each cruise - so bummed now! windjamming Posted January 6, 2012 #6 Share Posted January 6, 2012 Pretty much the same fleetwide :) here is the most recent one I have found from the Explorer I believe and it is identical to the 5 night MDR menu on my Radiance cruise back in February. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1479858 On our Dec Liberty cruise, Days 1 and 2 were identical to what you listed. Day 3 was New Year's Eve, so we had a special menu. The waiter said it would have been Venetian Feast on a non-holiday 5-day cruise. Day 4 was the Chef's Dinner, and Day 5 was the Feast of Nations (Mahi-mahi tempura, roast turkey..etc.). On a menu basis, I personally like the Feast of Nations the least, but since it is almost always the last night, we go to give our tips.
createmem Posted January 6, 2012 Author #7 Share Posted January 6, 2012 Gone..but not forgotten !!! I am so bummed! I might have to push for a special request and see if the chef can come up with something. well now my main reason for the MDR is gone on Gala night. We might just do specialty restaurants each night instead. I think I have an old RCCL cookbook - might have to dig out that recipe and make it myself! Sequim88 Posted January 6, 2012 #8 Share Posted January 6, 2012 Another slight factor. If the main MDR attraction keeping you from a specialty venue on a particular night is in the desserts then if you do the specialty earlier you may still be able to enjoy that item in WJ - if timing allows getting there before they close. But usually the desserts in Chops or Portofino are so good few people would bother. :) We have the same thoughts as far as nights to skip - plus we plan to do WJ for dinner a few times. But on 15 night cruise we are totally confused about how they plan menus (redo 7 night?) we plan to go to MDR upon boarding and examine menus for the whole cruise and then go make specialty reservations based on that. windjamming Posted January 6, 2012 #9 Share Posted January 6, 2012 But on 15 night cruise we are totally confused about how they plan menus (redo 7 night?) On 12-nights I have never seen a menu repeat, but I have never found the 'extra' menu items to be extraordinary. In particular, the coq au vin we had on the Mariner this summer was the worst entree I've had on a cruise ever.
