I would love some advice for first time Aussies cruising to Alaska..maybe only time so I need to make it count. I like the look of the Pacific Princess doing Voyage of the glaciers because of the wilderness lodges and train component..the other choice is the larger ships Diamond familiar to me and Sapphire but I have also heard that the inside passage is really special...don't know, what do you think:confused:

If you're only going to do this once, be sure to go to the interior on a "cruisetour". We weren't that taken with McKinley Lodge, but Denali is a must. Do a Tundra Wilderness Tour for the maximum opportunity to see wildlife and the train was another great opportunity to see the flora and fauna! I would choose whichever ship will take you into Glacier Bay.

We were on the Coral and loved the size. There were more dining opportunities than the Pacific Princess, but not as huge as one of the larger ships. We have been on the Pacific and loved the size, but if you enjoy many options, a larger ship has them.

I thought that the Pacific was in the Med in the summer? It was last year!

You MUST do the Voyage of the Glaciers cruisetour to get the full experience! You will still get to sail through the Inside Passage on this cruise, but you will also get to see so much more, like the unbelievable Glacier Bay, that only a few cruise lines are able to visit. You'll also get to experience the interior, which gives you a different perspective. The lodges are wonderful, and the train rides are unforgettable with the scenery and wildlife.

Thanks for the replies Voyage of the Glaciers it is..I'd liked the idea of a smaller ship for this cruise as well. Is there any month that it better as the season seems to be from June to September.

Alaska will be seeing me probably next years season.
