Scheduling times for transportation services

Hi-

We are going on our first cruise in March. We are flying into Fort Lauderdale the day before and staying at a hotel. We are going to book a transportation company to pick us up at the hotel and bring us to the Port of Miami. We will also be using the company to take us from POM to FLL airport.

What time should we ask to be picked up at the hotel to get to the Port at a reasonable time for boarding (not sure what that is either)?

What time should we have them pick us up at POM to brig us back to FLL?

Since this is our first cruise, I'm kind of clueless!!

It is totally up to you. Arriving at the port, no reason to be there before 11:30, but you don't want to be there after 2pm. You decide and tell the provider. We don't know where you are staying, so that is a missing fact in our calculations.

Can't help you with the return, as you didn't give us a flight time. But, you want be at FLL 2 hours prior to your flight, and it is 45 minutes to FLL.

We will be staying in Fll but haven't narrowed down a place yet. Our flight home is early evening but we're just going to head off to the airport anyway so we dont have to hang around with all of our luggage. What time do they make you get off the ship by?

SAS and most of the other shuttle services will start taking passengers to POM about 11:00 AM - they are busy earlier getting passengers from POM back to FLL- so you'll be checking in for your cruise about noon (just in time for lunch and a DOD! :D).

Most passengers will be off the ship before 9:00 AM. If you have a late flight you might look at renting a car (Alamo and other have free shuttles from POM to their rental facility near MIA) and returning it to FLL. Good luck! :)

  • 3 weeks later...
We are staying at FLL Hilton and arranged QLS for 11-11:30 pick up. They give you increments of 1/2 half time spots. 11 a.m. is the earliest they offer.

Before booking hotel, make sure a shuttle will pick you up there...I don't think they cover a great radius from the hotel. Check shuttle websites.
