MamaTene Posted January 23, 2012 #1 Share Posted January 23, 2012 Ours was on the Norway. She had a beautiful teak deck! Also one that was enclosed called the International Desk where all the various stores and bars and the casino were located. Each of these had a sitting area right outside of the doorway where people could relax on the couches, chairs etc and just casually visit. Phone were located on the wall as well to call the room service staff to bring up steaming pots of coffee, desserts or whatever your heart desired. Staff arrived with white gloves on and delvd everything right to the spot you were congregating at! Spent many an evening up there enjoying the time together. ondeckatsea Posted January 25, 2012 #3 Share Posted January 25, 2012 It's not easy picking one exceptional moment but if I had to it would be cruising into Venice. We were very lucky because we docked about 5 minutes walk from San Marco.

olemissreb Posted January 25, 2012 #5 Share Posted January 25, 2012 Celebrating my 20th Anniversary in the Specialty Restaurant on the Constellation and drinking a $75 GLASS of champagne! A close second would be seeing the look of awe on my kids faces as we drove to Pan American Pier in San Juan to board the Adventure of the Seas. It was just priceless and they were silent for the first time since we'd arrived in Puerto Rico the day before!:D

lovevacadays Posted January 26, 2012 #10 Share Posted January 26, 2012 I've had so many wonderful memories cruising. Right now, the thing that comes to mind is taking my mom on her first cruise. It was back in the early 90's on RCCL's Sovereign of the Seas. We stayed 3 days in Miami and then spent 4 days on the Sovereign. We visited the Bahamas, a private island and Key West. At that time, the Sovereign was considered a pretty amazing ship. We had such a wonderful time in Miami and on this cruise. I surprised my mom with this cruise and stay in Miami. I told her what to pack but never told her where we were going. At the airport she found out we were flying to Miami. She was excited as she had never been. Once in Miami, I didn't tell her we were cruising until the day we had to board the ship. She had always wanted to go on a cruise but could never afford it. I remember her total excitement and joy when I told her. One of the wonderful memories we had on board was when we were in our cabin (sort of a minisuite type of cabin). I had ordered us chocolate covered strawberries and something to drink. I had my camcorder rolling and my mom was sitting eating her strawberries and looking out at the Bahamas. She turned to me and said "look what my daughter has done for me" I will always remember being able to provide her with that experience.
DDWW Posted January 26, 2012 #11 Share Posted January 26, 2012 On a Caribbean cruise many years ago I was up very early and enjoying a cup of coffee on deck over the bow. We were heading into an island port that morning. I do not remember which one. The skies were very cloudy/misty and visibility was only 500 yards or so (a guess). The only sound was the gentle slow movement of water of the ship cutting through the sea. Then out of the mist came a brilliant emerald green island. Took my breath away. That vision wound up in one of my children stories. DDWW
FoghornLeghorn Posted January 27, 2012 #12 Share Posted January 27, 2012 Disney Dream - May of 2011 Little boy in his Mickey Mouse shirt, Mickey Mouse shoes...about 4 years old... Holding his Mama's hand, looking around the Atrium... Captain Mickey walks down the stairs.. You can see the surprise and joy... Little boy lights up from his feet to his eyes... Mickey walks straight over to him and gets down on one knee to hug him... Little boy hugs him so tight When they let go - little boy starts crying tears of joy and says "THIS IS THE BEST DAY EVER!!" that made the extra cost of a Disney cruise worth every penny :)
Sandi3667 Posted January 27, 2012 #13 Share Posted January 27, 2012 Hearing the blast of the Oosterdam's horn as we were pulling out of Seattle. Knowing we were now heading to Alaska, after 8 months of planning. BFF is buying a condo this year, so no cruises for 2012. Time to start basic planning for a 2013 Caribbean cruise. NorthCarolinaBelle Posted January 27, 2012 #15 Share Posted January 27, 2012 Our first cruise was for our 25th wedding anniversary in 2006. We sailed out of Bayonne, and the sight of the Statue of Liberty in the harbor, with New York City in the background brought me to tears. I realized at that moment how blessed we are as Americans! skinslvr26 Posted January 27, 2012 #18 Share Posted January 27, 2012 Ive only been on one crusie but one booked for this April.. To start the story me and my Mother Almost Drowned when i was 12.. (She was trying to teach me to swim And i went nuts ) Anyway i was with my wife and 2 friends in Grand Caymen and they wanted to go swim with sting rays and Snorkleing over the Reef. Anyway 15 mins after watching people have fun i was sad and ask the Boat capt if there was anything that i could wear to keep me up. He handed me a life ring and without thanking about it i jumped in the ocean in 15-20 foot of water over the reef needless to say it was one of the best things in my life beside my son being born and i was also the last person out of the water. My wife and friends were shocked to say the least when they got back on boat and i wasnt there. it was great:D
nodandade Posted January 30, 2012 #19 Share Posted January 30, 2012 well, i must admit their have been heaps of memorable moments over our cruise history, but the one that was the most memorable for me was, my wifes mother (a great lady) had had a stroke some years back, and it left her in a bad way,she was able to communicate slightly and had told me before she passed away, that ever since my wife was a little girl she had always wanted to go to alaska and have a dog sled ride, none of us are from wealthy families so we saved our pennies to go on a nice holiday. after saving for a couple of years,we were able to book a birth on the carnival spirit out of vancouver to seaward, via hawaii for one night. when we arrived at skagway and bisembarked the ship, we were met by a person from the helicopter ride up to the glacier snowfields where you mounted a sled with 16 huskies and head of around this big wonderfull field of ice and snow. needless to say my wife was pretty well a mess with tears, and me following her in another sled i wasn't much better. yes that was pretty memorable take care
