  1. 1. How far in advance to you book your cruise.

    • 30-90 days out. It seems I always book at the last minute
    • 91-180 days out
    • 181 to 1 year
    • as soon as they become avalable up to a year and a half in advance

Ryan & Clint here from Palm Springs. Yes, that's not really L.A.-area, but on the weekends so many of you are out here we feel like we sort of live in the L.A. area.

We just got back from a 2-week Tahitian Princess cruise of the Gulf of Alaska and had a pretty good experience (except that I got the flu and was quarantined ... and we had a homophobic assistant cruise director -- see post under "Most Friendly Cruise Lines"). Now we booked another cruise on the Tahitian Princess ... 10-days of French Polynesia over Thanksgiving this year.

We were one of only two identifiable gay couples on the Alaska cruise ... we'll see how it pans out for the French Polynesian cruise.

Best,

R & C

Just wanted to report that our first cruise on a Carnival ship (Spirit) last month was a pleasant surprise. For many years we have avoided Carnival and sailed the more upscale less glitzy lines. Well, this ship really isn't glitzy, neon, or painted with shocking bright colors as we expected, but I must say the period decor is a little over the top. The food was terrific and we had great tablemates....that always helps, right?

This 7 day Mexico cruise was an early wedding gift to ourselves. We were legally married on July 19th in a church (MCCLA) ceremony. There wasn't a dry eye in the house because everyone knew that we've been in a loving relationship for over 44 years and have prayed for the day that we could be legally married. We are blessed!

Congrats to you both, Jerry & Kirk; how great that we are all able to see this happen in our lifetimes! Best wishes and continued happiness to you both.

RC13, I took that Tahitian cruise a few years ago when the Tahitian Princess was still a Renaissance ship sailing the South Pacific. It still is the BEST CRUISE MEMORY I have of the 15 or so cruises I have taken. Tahiti is everything you imagine in the picture-postcard of your mind. We had several gay couples and many gay friendly people aboard that Tahiti cruise when I went....of course it also might have had something to do with the wonderul gay couple who were in the most expensive suite aboard the ship. They were two wonderful senior gentlemen who opened their arms wide to include those of us who were more shy. We still exchange Xmas cards. One of the things I liked most about the trip was that it spent two days per port/island. That way you had the chance to do the "hurry up and see everything" tour on day one, and go back on Day 2 to a beautiful secluded beach or an interesting bar/cafe you saw on the first day. I hope the itinerary still allows for that great feature. I thought the Renaissance ship was a beautiful intimate ship with wonderful relaxing areas and beautiful decor - I understand that Princess kept most everything exactly the same.

Ahhhhhhh....:)

Getting to LAX early tomorrow to fly up to Vancouver and catch the NCL Norwegian Star on its repositioning cruise down to LA for a week. Looking forward to the relaxation and stops in Oregon with a full day & overnight in San Fran!

The cheap single cabin rate (and cheap 1-way airfare LAX/YVR) was too good to pass up. Got cruise/airfare/oceanview solo cabin for about $700.

I lived in West Hol;lywood during the 1980's. I was young, attractive and stupid. I loved it!

Now we are in Denver and couldn't be happier.

I'm getting ready to take my first cruise in December. Will cruised as a kid. It will be a Southern Caribbean out of Colon, Panama.

I'd love to hear fron other FOD's on that cruise. It's the Grandeur of the Seas with a great itinerary.

Who else?
