BigGreenFan Posted January 29, 2012 #1 Share Posted January 29, 2012 I've seen reference in some postings here that some bus tours leave from the ferry port and that you are tendered there to meet the buses. This would be great because you'd avoid the lines for the cable car. Does anyone know if Holland America does this?
paul929207 Posted January 29, 2012 #2 Share Posted January 29, 2012 You may want to repost the question on the HAL section

All ships excursions on all lines start from the eastern tendering location, and don't involve the cable cars, except to return to the ship. Including HAL. kuldalai Posted January 29, 2012 #5 Share Posted January 29, 2012 The santorini cable car is very old and has very limited capacity, and needs to be converted to a continuous ropeway with higher passenger capacity. All Cruise lines do this on arrival in Santorini. Passengers booked on Ships Shore Excursions are tendered to a separate wharf area that can be accessed by the actual Tour Coaches used on the island . Independent pax going ashore are tendered to the old quayside at the foot of the cliff where pax can choose a ride up on the donkeys, or on the cable car . Pax booked independently with Local Island Tour Operators use this tender and the cable car, and will be met by your Tour Guide/Company at the top Cable Car Station . Some ships Shore Excursions return to Fira where passengers are left to sightsee or shop . For these passengers one returns down by cable car and the tenders designated for your particular cruise boat . Somedays there are up to 7 tender departure points for up to 7 different cruise lines .
