zangjuf Posted February 13, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 13, 2012 Hello, we consider us verry lucky. we are upgraded from aft balkony SF to bedr family suite. :) This will be our first suite. We also like to celebrate our 25th weddinganiversary. :):) Has anyone got tipps or great idea's how to surprise DH on that day? (besides the wellknown pakage?). We never had a butler before also.We are used to bring some small presents for our cabinsteward like Dutch cookies, local souvenir from port as soap in Marseille or parfume from Tunis. Always have nice reactions. I'm not sure if the Butler would appreciate? Also if you ask your butler for a can of Juice and ice daily. will it be charged or is it free? Thankfull for any reaction! PeleNipsy Posted February 13, 2012 #2 Share Posted February 13, 2012 Water, juices and soda are not generally included with the suites, with the exception of Owner's Suites, Deluxe Owner's Suites or the Garden Villas. Butlers will occasionally get you a pitcher of juice free of charge, but its up to the butlers discretion.
shark with a laser Posted February 14, 2012 #3 Share Posted February 14, 2012 (edited) I can't say anything about juice, but last time we had a butler we gave him a $20 the first day and requested the room always be stocked with tonic water. There was no additional charge. This isn't commonly published, more of a hidden perk at the discretion of the individual butler. This was a penthouse, not OS. GrandmaHofmann Posted April 20, 2014 #6 Share Posted April 20, 2014 When we had an owner's suite on the Jade, the butler never did a thing for us other than to bring us DVDs and, in the afternoon, cookies or a snack, most of which we could have gotten upstairs. He never offered to do anything else other than arrange a party for us which we did not want. So we did not do much for him. Never used the concierge. My excursions were booked before we got on the ship. Did not care about sitting in a special place in the theater either. Loved the room.
PatJim Posted April 20, 2014 #7 Share Posted April 20, 2014 You will love being in a suite. You traded your aft balcony suite for a 2-family suite? Pros: more cabin room. Con: smaller balcony, but still about the same size as a balcony or mini-suite cabin. If you do a search for suite perks or butler or concierge, you'll find lots of comments from other CC members with ideas about their experiences in a suite. We read, and have passed on, the tip of ordering lobster tails for our suite pre-dinner, on the night that NCL serves lobster in the main dining rooms. This way, no one has to battle the crowds in the restaurants. There is no charge, because it's part of the free dining experience. NCL usually has this on the menu the first night out (Day #1). Our butler brought them at the specified time. They were hot and perfectly cooked. We had ordered 2, but he brought us 4! Same with the chocolate croissants we order to be delivered every morning (except last day--turnaround day--when staff are super-overworked. It's nice to wake up, make a cup of cappuccino in the cabin, and have a croissant before hitting Cagney's for breakfast. I'm a night bird, so this is the only way to guarantee I'll rise before noon! If you like M & Ms, your butler will make sure there is a dish in your suite, always kept full.:) Want skim milk instead of whole? Mention it to the pre-cruise concierge desk, and it will be waiting when you board. Like cookies at night? Prefer certain types of fruit over others? Want sliced fruit (pineapple, melon...)? You got it! Just remember the butler and concierge do not share in the group $12/per person/per day gratuities, so be sure to include their tips when you calculate the cost of the Suite Life. We have 3 suite cruises booked this year. Then we're returning, alas, to the balcony/mini-suite life.:(
