Which Houston or Galveston hotel do you recommend for us?

We are flying into Houston Intl one day before our cruise. To be eligible for the Princess transfers to the port in Galveston, we have a choice of staying at either the Marriott Airport Houston, or the Galvez Galveston. Any recommendations? We would also like to grab some sort of tour for the afternoon, in either place.

Thanks, Jen

Hands down, without question. The Marriott is in a typical airport type area, nothing to see or do. Hotel Galvez is a beautiful and historic hotel, not far from the ocean and some decent restaurants.

I think it's cool that Princess offers that kind of transfer. I always like to get in a day before a cruise.

Have a great time and enjoy! :)

Galvez. Without a doubt. Unless you'd prefer to sit in the hotel window and watch the airplanes land and taxi to their gates.

Once you're in Galveston, you can walk around, do some sightseeing, go to dinner, and shop. At the IAH Marriott all you can do it sit in the hotel unless you have a car (which I'm guessing you don't or you wouldn't be taking a transfer shuttle).
