bobhsv Posted February 15, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 15, 2012 We are flying into Houston Intl one day before our cruise. To be eligible for the Princess transfers to the port in Galveston, we have a choice of staying at either the Marriott Airport Houston, or the Galvez Galveston. Any recommendations? We would also like to grab some sort of tour for the afternoon, in either place. Thanks, Jen
truchattycathy Posted February 15, 2012 #2 Share Posted February 15, 2012 I would pick Galveston over Houston anyday.

Hotel Galvez is a beautiful and historic hotel, not far from the ocean and some decent restaurants. I think it's cool that Princess offers that kind of transfer. I always like to get in a day before a cruise. Have a great time and enjoy! :) t. umph
Texas Tillie Posted February 15, 2012 #5 Share Posted February 15, 2012 There's no contest. Get down to Galveston and stay at the Galvez. The airport hotel is on the airport proper - and the area around Bush Intercontinental is NOT good (to say the least!).
bobhsv Posted February 15, 2012 Author #6 Share Posted February 15, 2012 Thanks everyone, your opinions are priceless. We just booked the Galvez. Looking forward to seeing the area. Jen
GenericUserID Posted February 15, 2012 #7 Share Posted February 15, 2012 Galvez. Without a doubt. Unless you'd prefer to sit in the hotel window and watch the airplanes land and taxi to their gates. Once you're in Galveston, you can walk around, do some sightseeing, go to dinner, and shop. At the IAH Marriott all you can do it sit in the hotel unless you have a car (which I'm guessing you don't or you wouldn't be taking a transfer shuttle).
