San Juan free bus

Our experience the last few times has been that there are less free trolleys and they are usually full. It is easier and faster to walk to the forts. :)

Every time we go to catch the trolley, it's always packed full - no matter what stop you're waiting at. I find it easier (and faster) to just walk...

Two years ago we used the trolley without difficulty, we were lucky enough to always find a seat. We stayed at the sheraton, the trolley was an easy way to get back to our hotel at the end of the day.

We used the trolley bus last July. Just exited dock and caught the bus up to the fort. Lots os space and a really pleasant ride up. We toured the fort and then walked back to the ship.

We used the trolley to get to El Morro and it was great! The open air trolley delivers you to el morro doorstop whereas the bus lets you off at the entrance which is about 1/8 of a mile from the entrance. We got on at 930am and it was not crowded at all. They come very frequently so you never have to wait long.

The second day in Old San Juan we wanted to ride the full loop just to see more of the city. We got on the open air trolley and rode to El Morro again. The driver then demanded that we get off. We tried to explain to him that we did not do a full loop and had visisted the fort the previous day, but it did not matter to him. To make things worse, it had started raining so we all got off and trudged in the rain down the entrance road to the nearest stop to catch the next trolley while he drove away in his empty trolley. We were very angry. Nowhere had I read that you had to get off at El Morro...it was ridiculous!
