Do prices get lower closer to sailing....

I really would like to upgrade to a balcony on my upcoming April Sensation cruise. I have been watching prices but the balcony cabins don't seem to be going down at all. Is there any hope this may happen?

If they have open balconies close to sailing will reduce pricing. keep watching.

Prices go up and down .. hard to predict. I watch and see if there is a trend, like a couple up moves ..or a couple of down moves toward the price I booked.

 

The last couple of weeks I really watch close as thats the most typical time for them to drop for me.

As stated by others, prices go up and down, and for a variety of reasons. You can't really predict what will happen.

If your on an older ship doing western Caribe and cabins are not selling good chance prices will drop.

 

If doing eastern or southern on a newer ship not as good of a chance.

Our next cruise is RC Mariner. I booked it 1 1/2 yrs ago for $1810, now it is $4021. As they say, you just never know.

There is an OV Spa Cabin open and some IS's on the Magic,

for next week, with GREAT prices compared to what we paid 1 1/2 years ago

Oh to live in a port city, be retired (w/money) and just wait on a great deal

Remember that there are not a lot of balcony cabins on Sensation. The odds of balcony prices coming down are pretty slim on that particular ship.

I tend to cruise last minute (book 3-5 days before the cruise). Sometimes get unbelievably low rates, other times, especially if its a popular time and ship, not so much.

 

Sometimes (once) the ship is SOLD OUT.

 

Just depends on the ship, the time and even which cruise line probably.

Two days ago I got a price drop of $157 pp for an 8G inside room on the Magic for the 2/26 sailing. Our total price drop since we made our final payment ended up being $234 pp :D:D:D I don't think I'll ever see that happen again but I'm lovin' the OBC for sure!
