Travelrd Posted February 28, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 28, 2012 does anyone know if princess offers to do your laundry by the bag, the way holland america does? i know you can have laundry done per the laundry list, but i was wondering if you can get a certain amount of laundry washed and folded per bagfull. cheers and thank you
paul929207 Posted February 28, 2012 #2 Share Posted February 28, 2012 I don't know if they always offer it, but we often see all you can fit in a laundry bag for $20 (I think). Princess also has self service laundries if you are interested.
Travelrd Posted February 29, 2012 Author #3 Share Posted February 29, 2012 paul...the $20 per bag is what i am hoping for. i refuse to take the time to do laundry on a cruise so i sure hope they offer it on my cruise. thank you

And at times not offered at all. Thus you can't plan on it.
-Lew- Posted February 29, 2012 #5 Share Posted February 29, 2012 ...the $20 per bag is what i am hoping for. I see you're sailing on the Emerald. We sailed on her on a B2B in January and February and it was offered for one day on each cruise. Keep an eye out for a notice in the Patter. Enjoy your cruise... Tickled2Trvl Posted February 29, 2012 #7 Share Posted February 29, 2012 On our Hawaiian Cruise, fourteen days R/T...they offered the laundry sale within the first four days! We ended up in a laundry room with our Purex sheets...and lots of quarters.
seacruise9 Posted February 29, 2012 #8 Share Posted February 29, 2012 Hi, Thanks for the information. I am cruising on the Emerald Princess this July for 11 days and was wondering about this laundry special. My parents have done several long cruises with Princess and Holland America and advised me about these specials (my mother said that she is able get an incredible amount of laundry into one of these bags). I will be watching my Princess Patters closely. :) Chuck
BoopTennis Posted February 29, 2012 #9 Share Posted February 29, 2012 i was on the 10-day Island Princess in late January and they offered the $20 per bag one day
tinatark Posted February 29, 2012 #10 Share Posted February 29, 2012 I've been on several 7 night cruises and have never seen it. It was offered on the one Carnival cruise we went on.
rcacace Posted February 29, 2012 #11 Share Posted February 29, 2012 There laundry bag isn't all that large but compared to paying per piece it's still a better deal.
Bucky3 Posted February 29, 2012 #12 Share Posted February 29, 2012 I have seen it advertised in the Patters, but as I remember it was a tiny little notice! I would ask your room steward what day it will be offered, so you don't have to depend on seeing it published!!
regnig Posted February 29, 2012 #13 Share Posted February 29, 2012 paul...the $20 per bag is what i am hoping for. David be aware that Princess uses a paper bag that is a bit smaller than HAL's cloth bag. You can still get a lot in it by rolling things tightly but not an entire cruise worth of dirty stuff. Travelrd Posted March 1, 2012 Author #14 Share Posted March 1, 2012 yes i know. holland america gives you a paper bag but it's surprising how much you can get into one of those bags. if i remember correctly, hal lets you do it at least twice per cruise. giving you the opportunity to do it within the first four days of a 10 day cruise really isn't much help. i'll keep my fingers crossed. cheers
1 HappyCruiser Posted March 1, 2012 #15 Share Posted March 1, 2012 The bag measures 14"x20" deep and although looks quite large is only 3 inches deep and cannot be stuffed to tightly as it tears quite easily. As someone said, rolling items as tightly as possible helps to maximize the offer.
Katiekakes Posted March 1, 2012 #16 Share Posted March 1, 2012 I am on Emerald right now, and today is $20 laundry bag day. We are on a back to back and last 10 days they had it twice. It is well worth it. Clothes come back very nice. Just remember to roll your clothes. You can get a lot more in that way. Usually they come back in day & half...all on hangers! Sometimes I think they do that on purpose to keep people from over stuffing them on their "$20 special" days.
Pia1913 Posted March 1, 2012 #20 Share Posted March 1, 2012 Sometimes I think they do that on purpose to keep people from over stuffing them on their "$20 special" days. I agree. Fortunately I don't have to worry about that. ;)
1 HappyCruiser Posted March 1, 2012 #21 Share Posted March 1, 2012 I agree. Fortunately I don't have to worry about that. ;) Neither do I but it does get frustrating to pack a bag with a pair of jeans & two shirts only to have it rip end to end. I can only imagine people trying to get their $20 worth stuffing them to the max. :D

Stuff the bag with anything else.
