Rare Hlitner Posted March 5, 2012 #2 Share Posted March 5, 2012 Well, guess it would be a full size Harley Davidson Motorcycle. This particular Harley belonged to the Staff Captain but we will not mention the line or ship since we are not sure if keeping this bike on the ship is OK with the higher ups in the company. Hank I don't know, but I will say there are motorcycle cruises where you can bring on your two-wheeled machine. There's some rules, like you can't have (much/any?) gas in it, so you have to fuel up soon as you take it off the ship, and siphon it back out before you load it back up. cruisinreunion Posted March 5, 2012 #5 Share Posted March 5, 2012 in ten cruises I had never seen a service animal on board, until my 10th..and I saw 3 different ones. One was a balance dog, one a seeing eye dog and the most unusual was a diabetic dog....this dog could sense when it's owner's sugar was low..this dog was 7 pounds and was carried in a baby sack and the owner had one of those handbag hooks and could hang the dog in it's bag at the dining room table..the dog was actually very very cute and had saved it's owner a few times
Happy ks Posted March 5, 2012 #6 Share Posted March 5, 2012 We saw a woman with a purse that looked like a stuffed animal dog. It was old, ugly, matted and dirty looking. She carried that thing everywhere and was photographed with it every night, including formal night. It must have meant something special to her, but it sure was gross looking. Another time, disembarking, I saw a persons carry on with cruise luggage tags stuck all over it. I suppose it was to signify all the cruises they had been on, but just like the above mentioned dog, it was gross looking. The sticky part of the tags were covered in lint, hair, dirt...the thing looked infected  I stood way back from it.

GRAMMYTAN Posted March 5, 2012 #8 Share Posted March 5, 2012 I saw a small group (3-4) ladies who were sailing together bring an escort for their group - a full sized inflatable male doll. They even brought clothes for him and took him everywhere - meals on the lido, the pool area, dancing, shows - and looked like they were having a grand old time. hckyfan68 Posted March 5, 2012 #9 Share Posted March 5, 2012 First let me say that there is a reason behind this... 2 years ago I brought on-board a picture frame (16"x20"), yes it was very large. But this was out wedding cruise and instead of bringing a wedding book for people to sign ( we had 17 other people cruise with us) we took a picture frame the was engravable. The MDR put all of us at tables near each other in the center of the room, and they had a place for our frame. Our guests signed in between courses, and we had the maitre'd and out head waiter sign it as well. It was awesome and it made it home with no problems, but damn it was a pain carrying it on board. mr green Posted March 5, 2012 #10 Share Posted March 5, 2012 I believe it was Grand Cayman, about 14 years ago. The NCL Wind was about to sail when there was yelling from the dock. Two young guys were struggling with a huge wooden box which is seems held some 300 lbs of rocks!!! They got it aboard. john

Tralynn Posted March 5, 2012 #13 Share Posted March 5, 2012 I saw a lady carrying a very large wall clock under one arm and a Mr. Coffee Pot under the other arm......And my DH thinks I overpack! doneinne Posted March 5, 2012 #14 Share Posted March 5, 2012 What's so strange about golf clubs? We've taken ours on golfing cruises a few times. Not strange, just the strangest thing I saw. Nothing else caught my attention. I keep telling my wife I'm going to bring a fishing pole and fish off the back deck. The looks on people's faces would be funny. SadieN Posted March 6, 2012 #15 Share Posted March 6, 2012 Not at embark but at debark- In line at Customs in Long Beach---A pleather high-backed manager's chair. The people either bought it at a yard sale or picked it up from the curb in Avalon. Husband said one thing and wife said the other. I say curb as we were ashore on a Tuesday. Somehow they convinced the tender captain to haul it back to the ship and Carnival to stow it somewhere for them. I knew it was very unusual as the port & ICE people were inspecting it at the end of our cruise. *** In January saw a washtub bass brought onboard. The gal was part of a blues group. lilybug Posted March 6, 2012 #16 Share Posted March 6, 2012 Sounds like something I would do. So funny! Sort of like "Flat Stanley". I could see myself and certain girlfriends doing that, would be lots of fun.
marco Posted March 6, 2012 #17 Share Posted March 6, 2012 Several years ago, in St Thomas, someone bought a REALLY big Mickey Mouse stuffed animal. It was a bit larger than 6ft tall. Yep...they just "walked" Mickey on board. (and they didn't even ask for his "sign and sail card) Mickey even made an appearance in the disco that night! SoonerA4pilot Posted March 14, 2012 #18 Share Posted March 14, 2012 My sister carried on a lightweight folding lawn chair...there were three of us sharing a cabin and only two chairs on the balcony...we just laughed at her for bringing her own furniture, but it certainly was nice to have sitting space for all of us. She got the last laugh because her chair was much more comfortable than the ship's chairs!

Talisker92 Posted March 15, 2012 #21 Share Posted March 15, 2012 On an African cruise, a passenger bought a 6foot wooden high giraffe. When they realized he could not get it home, they kept it on the bridge of the ship until it docked near his home!
