Playing poker on board

I like small stakes home-type poker games including Hold em. All I read about here is BJ. Do the casinos allow or have poker tables? Would they frown on me bringing my chip set and hosting an ad hoc game somewhere? I realize there is nothing in it for them.

Really? I highly doubt that they would sanction an ad hoc poker game anywhere on the ship by anybody other than the ship's casino. That would be the same as you setting up a game somewhere at a casino in Las Vegas.

If it's just your own party that wants to play in your cabin (like some might play Bridge or Monopoly, or some game), I don't see where that would be a problem, but "setting up a game" and "hosting"....naw....not the thing to do!

I agree - and maybe I was overinterpreting as something more than a cabin game. At least that what it sounded like to me...........

I am cruising NCL and glad to hear they have poker tables. I never really considered bringing my own chips... But any markers would do. Would they bust you for betting jelly beans? Hmmm, what's a black one worth? $10 you say? Yumm, tasty. Lol

This is going to be fun.

I was also thinking of bringing some cards and my chip set for an impromtu hold em tourney.... my plan would be to keep the "pot" $$$$ off the table and out of sight.....

What can they really say if you are playing cards and have chips on the table? No cash is visible, you just say you are playing for fun, or who buys the next round of drinks.... they can't prove you are actually gambling.

Disclaimer: I have never tried this and do not know if this is going to lead to trouble.

I see no problem with this, provided you do it somewhere out of the mainstream.

I would join you.
