Marguerite-a-Ville Posted March 12, 2012 #1 Share Posted March 12, 2012 I ordered this dress in black. The description says "ankle length" and it truly hits just at the top of my ankle, not -surprise- a few inches above the ankle as shown on the tall model (I'm 5'5"). I'm not sure if I should have it taken up a few inches. It feels not quite right at that length...too long for tea length and too short for maxi. Any opinions on that length? Would you be comfortable with that length?
cb at sea Posted March 12, 2012 #2 Share Posted March 12, 2012 I don't think that's a flattering length at all....I'd either shorten it to or around the knee, or return it....
janabm81 Posted March 12, 2012 #3 Share Posted March 12, 2012 I agree with the above poster...shorten it.:)

sail7seas Posted March 13, 2012 #5 Share Posted March 13, 2012 Another ditto...... Not a good length IMO
nw2this Posted March 13, 2012 #6 Share Posted March 13, 2012 It might look nice on a really curvy figure.
Alrana Eris Posted March 13, 2012 #7 Share Posted March 13, 2012 I'm 5'5 I wear long dresses. If its too long go to a tailor and have them hem it for you. I sew so I can do it myself. Length should be fine
Marguerite-a-Ville Posted March 13, 2012 Author #8 Share Posted March 13, 2012 Thanks for the feedback, ladies! Looks like I may need to have it shortened.
Hoyaheel Posted March 13, 2012 #9 Share Posted March 13, 2012 I'll be contrary:p I think ankle length - with flat shoes - would be nice. I'm 5'5" and maxi dresses tend to drown me - I like at the ankle. Far better on me than mid-calf (if I wanted a knee length dress, that's what I'd order - I wouldn't order full length and then hem) If you don't like the length, and want it so much shorter, wouldn't it be better to return it and order the length you want? [unless I'm misunderstanding and you wanted a mid-calf dress?]
Marguerite-a-Ville Posted March 13, 2012 Author #10 Share Posted March 13, 2012 Hoyaheel, I did want a mid-calf or a little longer. I'm going to shorten it just a bit, not knee-length. It's just an awkward length right now, but a few inches should do the trick. I love the style...it really is flattering on. And I can get several uses out of it by adding different accessories. Thanks for your input!
Martini Mom Posted March 13, 2012 #11 Share Posted March 13, 2012 I would hem it to mid knee or just above the knee.
Choochala Posted March 14, 2012 #12 Share Posted March 14, 2012 I love the dress - I have one similar and it sits between the knee and ankle and you're right - it's very versitile. Different accessories change the look. hem it a bit and wear it! You will look fabulous!
Marguerite-a-Ville Posted March 15, 2012 Author #13 Share Posted March 15, 2012 Thanks Choochala! I'm glad to hear you are happy with your dress and the mid-calf length!
middlehaitch Posted March 15, 2012 #14 Share Posted March 15, 2012 I love ankle length (shows the shoes off) and fortunately it is very on trend right now, keep it the length it is. Cheers, h.
harris.margaret9 Posted March 19, 2012 #15 Share Posted March 19, 2012 I loved the dress but please shorten it. Not at all a flattering length!
