Getting change on board ship?

Recommended Posts

So I guess we're going to need a bunch of small bills for tips, taxis, and incidentals when we go ashore. Anyone know if it's generally not a problem to get change made on the ship? Or should I plan to make a special trip to the bank before we leave?

Cheers,

Brian

I've found it's worth the trip to the bank not to have to worry about it. Another benefit is not wasting my vacation time standing in line!

The casino is not always agreeable to acting as the bank. If you want to break a large bill to a denomination that works for the machines, you're all set. Asking for three 20's, two 10's, three 5's & five 1's is a different ballgame!

Very easy- I go to Guest Relations to do this often with no problems. If you go early in the morning or in the middle of the day (when everyone is eating lunch)....even late at night, there's hardly a line.

Ditto..I go to guest relations to get change several times through out my cruise...as long as you don't wait till Port day when everyone else is trying to get change there usually isn't that much of a line...

And, large bills are MUCH easier to transport than wads of $1's and $5's!!!

I just bring a big bag of money with $500 in one dollar bills, $500 in five dollar bills, $1,000 in twenties, and a couple of thousand in hundred dollar bills.

And nope, never concerned about losing it or getting robbed.
