OwASeaUrchin! Posted March 15, 2012 #1 Share Posted March 15, 2012 So I guess we're going to need a bunch of small bills for tips, taxis, and incidentals when we go ashore. Anyone know if it's generally not a problem to get change made on the ship? Or should I plan to make a special trip to the bank before we leave? Cheers, Brian
Rare colesc15 Posted March 15, 2012 #2 Share Posted March 15, 2012 The casino is a great place to get any change you need during sailing. We did it a few times. You can go to the cashier, or even use the automated machine to break the bills.
gcvt Posted March 15, 2012 #3 Share Posted March 15, 2012 Yup, just use the casino cashier - they're more than happy to make change for you.
clean1owner Posted March 15, 2012 #4 Share Posted March 15, 2012 You can also get change or cash a check at the Pursers Desk
satxdiver Posted March 15, 2012 #5 Share Posted March 15, 2012 I go several times to the Purser's desk for change. No problem.
phoenix1181 Posted March 15, 2012 #6 Share Posted March 15, 2012 I've found it's worth the trip to the bank not to have to worry about it. Another benefit is not wasting my vacation time standing in line! The casino is not always agreeable to acting as the bank. If you want to break a large bill to a denomination that works for the machines, you're all set. Asking for three 20's, two 10's, three 5's & five 1's is a different ballgame! Host Faith Posted March 15, 2012 #7 Share Posted March 15, 2012 Very easy- I go to Guest Relations to do this often with no problems. If you go early in the morning or in the middle of the day (when everyone is eating lunch)....even late at night, there's hardly a line.
kc320 Posted March 15, 2012 #8 Share Posted March 15, 2012 Ditto..I go to guest relations to get change several times through out my cruise...as long as you don't wait till Port day when everyone else is trying to get change there usually isn't that much of a line... OwASeaUrchin! Posted March 15, 2012 Author #9 Share Posted March 15, 2012 Thanks, everyone. Sounds easy enough. Much better than trying to get to my bank during business hours!
cb at sea Posted March 15, 2012 #10 Share Posted March 15, 2012 And, large bills are MUCH easier to transport than wads of $1's and $5's!!!
LA_CA_GAL Posted March 15, 2012 #11 Share Posted March 15, 2012 And, large bills are MUCH easier to transport than wads of $1's and $5's!!! I just bring a big bag of money with $500 in one dollar bills, $500 in five dollar bills, $1,000 in twenties, and a couple of thousand in hundred dollar bills. And nope, never concerned about losing it or getting robbed.
