We are going on the Azura on the 2nd june to norway.travelling as a family of 4 (kids aged 17 and 13)

Never cruised before and would love some advice on all aspects of the ship and advice on excursions as they seem expensive when its for 4.

worried about dining and ending up with a big bill at the end of the cruise for food and drink. does it make it clear what dining is included and what has an extra charge?

Please help!!!

There will be prices posted if there is a charge....and if your room key is asked for, then you're being charged for something!

Have you checked out the Azura boards? They will be able to give more specific answers to you.

As far as excursions, many things don't require an "excursion" at all. A guidebook will be your best investment....it will tell you everything about the ports you'll visit, transportation, dining, shopping, beaches, points of interest, safety, etc..... Libraries have guidebooks, or you can buy one. It can save you a lot of money!

Welcome to Cruise Critic. There are separate boards here for the major cruise lines. the one for P&O-UK is located under Cruise Lines P-Z. Folks there will be familiar with Azura and the P&O product, and can give good answers for your questions. EM

Nic- just in case you haven't made it on to the P&O page yet- Almost all the food is free!:D

There's the restaurant you're given for dinner, but also one for waiter served breakfast and lunch- and afternoon tea, which is rather special. There's also a large buffet, on deck 15 aft- right at the back; there's a pizza bar and burger bar at the main pool. Part of the buffet will become an Italian restaurant at 6.30pm, but that's also free.

The paid ones are a rather grand one: "17" on deck 17; an Eastern one on 7, and a pub-type one also on 7. They are very obvious, and will have menus and booking desks- you can't wander in and eat by accident.;)

There will also be children' tea in part of the buffet- free,

The drinks prices aren't bad; they're pub prices, not hotel ones. There's a soft drink package for the children; you can also take these on board with you, and you can take alcohol on board, but it's cheaper to buy a litre of spirits from the ship than from a supermarket, so most don't take much- maybe a bottle or two of wine.

You can check out how much your bill is, daily, on the TV in your cabin.

Enjoy!:)

Jo.
