califgary Posted March 28, 2012 #1 Share Posted March 28, 2012 Just booked our first cruise on NCL (we are seasoned Princess and HAL cruisers) - never tried "anytime" dining ever - question we booked an aft Penthouse cabin comes with a "concierge" - can we used them to get us reservations for the entire cruise or do we still need to do a daily reservations call? Any info on suite perks would be greatly appreciated thank you so much looking forward to a new line and new adventures.
goldmom Posted March 28, 2012 #2 Share Posted March 28, 2012 Your Concierge can either make a dinner reservation for you for the entire week or for several days or each day. It's up to you. Some of the Specialty restaurants fill up (like Teppanaki) so if your planning to eat there, you should make that reservation early in your trip. You can also have your butler bring you dinner from any restaurant onboard and he will serve it in your suite. If you order from any of the upcharge restaurants, the charge will be applied. Breakfast and lunch in Cagney's is free for suite guests, so be sure to take advantage of that. Prepare to be spoiled! And have a great cruise! Nalagh Posted March 28, 2012 #4 Share Posted March 28, 2012 Just booked our first cruise on NCL (we are seasoned Princess and HAL cruisers) - never tried "anytime" dining ever - question we booked an aft Penthouse cabin comes with a "concierge" - can we used them to get us reservations for the entire cruise or do we still need to do a daily reservations call? Any info on suite perks would be greatly appreciated thank you so much looking forward to a new line and new adventures. You can also make dinner reservations 45 days out by logging into NCL.COM. If you are a planner, it is a great new tool! We love the aft view! We prefer NCL to HAL because of the suite perks. The biggest difference between the HAL and NCL concierge is the lack of the Neptune lounge filled with staff to assist. I think the team concierge approach on HAL is outstanding. The NCL difference is the suite perks that can not be found on Princess or HAL. You require less of the concierge team because the butlers do so much. They will bring you dinner to your suite from any resturant. They will bring drinks on a daily schedule if you ask, or even one just on a phone call. The suite coffee makers are outstanding, in fact the same as the Neptune lounge on the Westerdam. The Butler will refill as requested, and this is one of my favorite perks! Now, you will not find the Pinnicale Grill but Cagney's is just as wonderful IMHO. Cagney's offers great breakfast selections, and a nice but limited lunch menu (imho again). Happy planning!!

The Butlers really are great and we have always been able to get in to any restaruant with the help of our Butler or Concierge if we made a late decision and the restaurant was full. ;)

Mrs. H. Posted March 28, 2012 #9 Share Posted March 28, 2012 Welcome to the suite life on NCL, Califgary!! We've had aft PH twice on the Dawn. Loved it! Had the owners suite on the last cruise and now going to try the SJ family suite on our upcoming cruise. :D Butler should be bringing you little treats each day. :D As soon as you get thru security look for the person with the VIP sign. That's where the fun begins. :) I never reserve a restaurant in advance. I have the concierge do it for us and we ALWAYS get a great table. ;) NCL SUITE LIFE........IT DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER!!!! califgary Posted March 28, 2012 Author #13 Share Posted March 28, 2012 So "smart casual" for every evening - on "non formal nites" on HAL and PRINCESS I usually wear an aloha shirt with black dockers - is this ok for NCL?

This is basically what hubby wears, every night, to every restaurant. Khakis and aloha shirts. As long as you have a collar and long pants (and occasionally closed shoes), you are good to go anywhere at anytime. Robin

califgary Posted March 28, 2012 Author #16 Share Posted March 28, 2012 Maybe I missed it, but you aren't on deck 8 are you? We are on deck 9 - I noticed below deck 8 was some sort of niteclub and I read on CC that some got some noise etc. So I picked an aft suite up one flight to avoid that - hope this is a good choice let me know! That's appropriate dress for any night. One or two evenings will be listed in the Freestyle (the daily event newsletter, delivered to your suite each evening) as "dress up or not" nights where attire will range from tuxedos and gowns to smart casual as you've described. Usually one of the two main dining rooms has a more lenient enforcement of the suggested evening dress - we've seen men allowed with shorts in the evening. I know that this was the case on Star in February.

You're good to go and got it right. Just wanted to make sure you didn't book 8 as you'd be over Spinnaker Lounge.

Rare Wildcatllamas Posted March 28, 2012 #21 Share Posted March 28, 2012 Thanks! It all sounds so great and definitly different than we are used to - making dinner reservations 45 days ahead is awesome cant wait for that! If you have a lot of OBC I would wait to book your dinner reservation until you are onboard the ship. Otherwise you have to pay up front. We have $525 on our next one and we are going to prepay the DSC so that will mean a lot of dinners and spa visits. Oh darn.;)
