While in Old San Juan, did you get a chance to visit the fort? It is an interesting walk out there. We stayed in at the "El Convento" hotel right in old San Juan pre cruise.A beautiful OLD hotel converted from an OLD convent.

I've heard that the El Convento is a wonderful hotel- might have to try it one year. We used to stay in a Howard Johnson's that was located by Playa De Armes. It was in a 400 year old building and looked nothing like you'd imagine a HoJo's. We stayed in rooms with a balcony that overlooked the square. I was really sad to find out they were no longer there and the building has a bistro in it now.

We didn't get to the forts today. I really wanted to see El Morro up close- I've walked up to the entrance, but never down to the walls. We walked around San Cristobal a few years back also. They are defintely worth visiting. When we were at El Morro the first time, the ground were full of kite flyers. I heard that families from all over come there to fly kites.

Were not sure if we'll head back into town tomorrow after checking in or just hang out on the ship. I hope they will have our rooms ready early since they don't have any departing guest.

this is the building that used to be the HoJo's

Hello everyone- Thanks again for the well-wishes. I don't think I've ever been happier to be onboard a ship.

We checked out of our hotel by around 11:30 and were checked in, and in our rooms before noon- the fastest yet.

Since there were no departing guests, the rooms were cleaned and ready to go.

All the staff are smiling and happy, the ship is spotless, and the weather is beautiful. Walked around and snapped lots of pictures. I'll try to upload some if the connections aren't too slow. It took me a couple of attempts the get online- but got on quickly after I got through.

Went to the International Cafe for lunch and the foos was superb. I haven't figured out who the cruise director is, but will post when I find out.

Looking forward to departure tonight!

Susan

Thanks Susan for all of the pictures of San Juan.

We're on the 4/15 cruise and get into San Juan early that morning. We were wondering what we were going to do all day before we sail. Now I know. I think we'll head into town and and have a relaxing afternoon.

Hi everyone

I’m going to try to answer of the few questions that were asked. Since Internet minutes are precious, It may be hard to answer each individually, but if you ask, I’ll try and find out and answer in one post.

The cruise director this week is Neil Roberts.

The price for Internet minutes vary depending on how many are purchased. I purchased 150 for $75 dollars. 100 minutes was $55. I think. 500 minutes was $175. There is a raffle for 500 free minutes.

Today, we did the $1000 treasure hunt where you go from place to place to get stamps and then they have a drawing at 8:45 p.m. We have late dinner, which was kind of disappointing, because you have to be at the raffle drawing to win, which meant skipping the first dinner. I was starving around 5 anyway, so we just ate in the Caribe Café instead. The Horizon Court was between servings at the time.

They have plenty of entertainment onboard. They had a piano player in the atrium when we boarded, and a two piece band a little later.

There is a nice 4 piece Calypso band playing poolside.

Tomorrow, we arrive in St. Thomas. We are planning to try Sapphire Beach and then do some shopping in Charlotte Amalie.

Uploading a few pics now- service is fast now-maybe because we are in port

Will post shortly if successful

Susan

Sue, thanks for the info on the internet minutes! Stinks that it's not the same deal as the Ruby!!

Would it be too much for you to save your patters and maybe send pictures or scans of them when you get back? No problem if you don't feel like lugging them home! :D

Your welcome! I'm hoping to win the raffle!

My sister is saving the patters- so I'll copy them when I get home. In case I forget, please remind me after the 8th
