Allocation prior to final payment?

Have many of you received an allocation, when booking guarantee, PRIOR to final payment? (I hadn't read many stories of that happening, so I did not think it was likely). If you received the allocation, were you upgraded between that time and the time of final payment and beyond?

Whenever we've booked a guarantee cabin we've always been upgraded after final payment.

I have not heard of cabins in guarantee categoy being allocated before finl payment. As a matter of fact, many cabins seem to have been allocted very short before sailing.:confused::(

In reality, sometimes the allocation is made early and sometimes it is made later. There doesn't seem to be any great logic about it and the allocation can change anyway.

It's totally unpredictable. About 3 years ago we booked a guarantee inside D8.

We got a cabin allocation almost immediately. Then it was changed to a D7 which I found out via the voyage personaliser. Then on embarkation we were given a restricted view cabin on deck 8. On the return we were again given a cabin on deck 8 but on the opposite side of the ship.

We have paid in full but not been allocated yet.....there still appears to be a lot of availability on our crossing so I am working on the premis that no news is good news....unfortunately the Grand Duplex has already been booked ;-)

I paid the balance a couple of weeks ago and got my cabin number a week or so after that.
