librarylady19 Posted April 19, 2012 #126 Share Posted April 19, 2012 The buffet is in the main dinng room, just so you know. It would be on a sea day. Last year when we did Bermuda it was on our last sea day. Honestly, we were tired and full at that point :) The Brunch looks way better than the one on Eclipse. Very pleased to see the shrimp (none in sight on Eclipse). Displays are beautiful.
rupertfrog Posted April 19, 2012 #127 Share Posted April 19, 2012 Thank you so much for all the reports & photos. We will be on our first Celebrity cruise ... it is on the Summit with the same itinerary you have (I believe ... at least so far). Great job! Gaynors Posted April 19, 2012 #128 Share Posted April 19, 2012 Thank you so much for posting the photos of the fun factory. We'll be sailing on the Summit with our 9 and 11 year old kids in just over a month and have been anxiously waiting for someone to post photos of the newly reconstructed fun factory. It looks great. Tiki_Man Posted April 19, 2012 #129 Share Posted April 19, 2012 Again, GREAT pictures and reviews Tip about Dive Gear. After your dive, go up to the pool area. The showers there are fresh water and much bigger area to rinse out your gear THOROUGHLY with good water. Then go up one deck to the open area, lay out the gear, buy a beer/soda and relax while it starts to dry out. Just be courteous of those around you and this might be your best bet. St Lucia is a wonderful island and you really did see it all, good job. Tiki
bigque Posted April 19, 2012 #130 Share Posted April 19, 2012 I am really enjoying this being that I just booked Summit for nex year on the other Southern Route. I did your route on Serenade in 2010. Questions: I like to wonder around the ship late night up till about 1:00am, not so much to party but sit around in the venues, maybe have a drink, watch the gambling in the casino, people watch, etc. Does it really get that dead late night that I should just go back and sit on my balcony or go to bed??? I might have missed you mentioing it, but what nights were the formal night??? Our sea day is on day 6. I assume that will be the day for the brunch??? Can you walk out to the Helo pad on Summit??? sarahc78 Posted April 19, 2012 #132 Share Posted April 19, 2012 Fun Factory continued... Hallway on the way to the Reception Desk Reception desk view from inside Teen Club Gmros Thanks a million for posting the Fun Factory shots for me. I really appreciate it. It looks AMAZING!!! I know my kiddos are going to be having a blast in there :D Thanks again :hugs&kisses: Fantastic photos. I'm happy to see there is entertainment in Michaels as well as the new selection of beers! The evening buffet looks quite good; hope they have that on the Bermuda itinerary. We are doing this itinerary in January so I'm just as interested in your photos and port reviews. Were these photos taken with a phone? The past two Summit Bermuda sailings they have had a midnight chocolate buffet held in the Revelations lounge. Unfortunately it was never held on the pool deck. It was quite nice, especially if you like chocolate.

techgirlVA Posted April 19, 2012 #134 Share Posted April 19, 2012 Holy cow, what an amazing review, thanks so much for taking time out of your trip to walk us through with you!! Did you happen to notice how much the bottles in your mini bar are? My husband is a scotch drinker and we have been trying to decide whether to buy the in-room bottle package or just go with the mini bar. We'll be following you on the summit in less than 3 weeks, looks like we will be having a great time! :)
luv2camp04 Posted April 19, 2012 #135 Share Posted April 19, 2012 It was great to see a photo of Nestor!! He was on our Millenium cruise last April out of San Juan. We thought he was wonderful. We had a few minutes to chat with him in line at security when we were at the airport (he was off for a while after that cruise for vacation.) Very nice man. Thanks for bringing back a good memory of a great vacation!! Kelly
Pandot Posted April 19, 2012 #136 Share Posted April 19, 2012 For the photos of the fun factory. We have been waiting for those for along time. Looks like their are fewer "play" structures given the space but looks like they have some fun movement stuff in the corners. Thanks for the great review. Can't wait... we will be onboard in less than 3 weeks :) Andrea

Actually, leaving San Juan, if the wind is okay, they sometimes open the Helipad (just don't take flash photo's "back" towards the bridge - TRUST ME :) Also, in St Lucia, sometimes they will open as the bow as they go down to turn around near the Pitons (again, depends on weather). Also, in Tobago, they opened it up for sailaway. Kinda depends upon the Capt. Not just Elite

Not just Elite You are right our cruise on the Constellation in Jan the Captain was going to open up the Helipad in St Thomas but it started to rain just before we left, but he also did it in St Marten. I think it depends on Captain & weather, we are going on the Summit on Sat cannot wait.

gmros Posted April 20, 2012 Author #145 Share Posted April 20, 2012 I'm back! Though I'm pretty sore from the excursions :(. Thank you Tiki for the tip about the dive gear! I'm sorry if I confused you guys regarding how I do my trip report. As our trip progresses, I either find out or remember things and/or tips so I post them the day I remember even though it is not necessarily related to the port (e.g. change and wrist watch). Sorry! As promised, here are the dinner photos from 4/17. gmros Posted April 20, 2012 Author #147 Share Posted April 20, 2012 APRIL 18 - ANTIGUA We booked the Canopy and Challenge Tour through Celebrity. There were so many people! We are not fans of crowds, but the tour turned out great, but very strenuous (for me anyway). The zip line was great. The challenge courses over rope and cable bridges was a lot of work. You'll definitely sweat in this tour, so bring something to wipe your sweat or cool you off. We weren't allowed to take any photos so I don't have photos of the challenge courses. They take photos and videos on the zip lines that you can purchase. We purchased the CD of photos for $20 per person. We got bravery certificates after the whole course :D. There is a market of little stalls of souvenirs right by the pier. Walk around if you have time and you'll find better deals. Usually they are open to negotiating too.. If you want your passport stamped, there's an immigration office right after the dock, after you pass by the sign that says "Thank you for visiting us". Love the interactive TV. You can do a few things with it:. Ship water tastes okay. It doesn't have the same taste as water at home (NY), but it's fine. We probably didn't need the bottled water we bought upon check-in coz we brought our own water bottles.

gmros Posted April 20, 2012 Author #149 Share Posted April 20, 2012 QUESTIONS / REQUESTS Photos I've used my cellphone, a Canon Powershot and a Canon Rebel to take the photos I've posted here Formal Nights Our formal nights were Sunday (a sea day) and Thursday. The cruise was Sat-Sat. Helipad The helipad is not always open. They opened it once on 4/17 (St. Lucia) right before we sailed away. Took the photo while we were sailing away Change After Barbados and St. Lucia, we ran out of change (small denominations from $1-$10) and we thought we brought a lot. I find this important for tips, etc and because at some places, if you don't have exact change, they give you the difference in their local currency. And it's a little hard to spend their local currency if we were only there one day. Taxi in Barbaodos We went to the taxi stand outside the cruise terminal to get a taxi (more like shuttle) and there are taxis waiting infront of the lobby at Hilton. Themed Nights If you mean at dinner, no there are not themed nights. Or maybe I didn't notice, but I don't think so. UP NEXT - ST. MAARTEN And Shark Dive!
gmros Posted April 20, 2012 Author #150 Share Posted April 20, 2012 Thank you again everyone for all your kind words! I tried to list all the questions/requests that you all have posted. I'll try my best tomorrow to answer those that I haven't answered yet. Unfortunately, tomorrow is our last port day, and we disembark on Saturday :(. So I want to apologize in advance if I will be unable to answer your questions/requests. Have a good night everyone!
