Anyone done Baltic Capitals followed by TA?

Has anyone done the NCL Baltic Capitals followed by the same ship transatlantic? I am interested in this one to celebrate being empty nesters in a few years and am wondering how that long on one ship would be.

Barb

We did 14 days through Panama Canal then on to Mexican Rivirea for another 7 same cabin. What is there not to like about having your food cooked/served to you along with housekeeping.

Looking forward to someday doing at least 75 days cruise

And thank the almighty for ereaders.

We did the Baltic Cruise aboard the SUN last September and stayed aboard the ship for its transatlantic trip from Copenhagen to Florida. We had 9 days on the Baltic Cruise and I believe it was 14 days on the transatlantic making a total of 23 days. Loved every minute of the cruise - the many ports we visited and all the sea days we had.

It was our second time for the Baltic cruise - the first being in August 2010 embarked from Dover, England and disembarked, also, in Dover, England and it was a 12 day cruise - having 3 extra sea days.

The transatlantic cruise last year was our first TA and we loved it - especially for all the sea days. We have another TA booked for next spring going from New Orleans, LA to Copenhagen - 16 days - and really looking forward to the cruise.

The Baltic cruise visits six wonderful and interesting countries and altho we have visited them now - twice - we hope to make that cruise again in the future.

And on the TA cruise - there is always something to do. They have many things planned and one can always find something to do - or - you can read, visit with friends that you make, just sit and dream - relax. There is the pool, the library, casino - .

Hope you will enjoy your cruise as much as we enjoyed ours.

MaryJo, who chats under NMLady, did 33 days aboard the SUN. They did the cruise that hit the Faroe Islands, Scotland, and some other northern ports, then they did the 13-day transatlantic into Orlando, and then stayed on board for the 7 day cruise following the transatlantic!! She had a good time, and I'm jealous as I would love to spend more than a month on a ship. I will have to wait until retirement though.

Thanks, everyone- your experiences make me want to book now!

My original plan was a river cruise followed by the TA but my husband wasn't too thrilled about the river part. Also his grandparents emigrated from Finland and he would love to visit Helsinki.

Hopefully the Sun will still be doing this route when our baby goes to college. I want the forward penthouse again.

Thanks again,

Barb

I suspect NM Lady will chime in here at some point, but unless I am mistaken, "she and her Joe" didn't have to disembarck in Port Canaveral before the rest of us got on for our first and only and her last 7 days. Having typed that it doesn't make sense that is the case though since they would have to do customs and immigration. But I know she and I talked about how much she enjoyed being on the ship when it was close to empty before all of us got aboard and ruined her private yacht:eek:

There's a whole bunch doing that right now. The Sun left Port Canaveral on Saturday, headed for Copenhagen. It's a 13-day crossing, followed by a 9-day Baltic cruise. If you follow their roll-call, you'll probably get lots of feedback.

Another question- I know you have to leave the ship on disembarkation/embarkation day- what are the mechanics of that?

I just finished doing a B2B on the Sun doing the baltics followed by the trans-Atlantic. The Ship does not require you to get off and then re-board. you can stay on the ship all day if you want or you can get off to tour around and reboard anytime without having to wait. What they do is give you a sticker to wear on your shirt and when you want to get back on ,all you have to do is show it to the person at the entrance and they will let you back on.

So Doughboy, I guess you just go through customs/immigration with eveyrone else coming back from the 7 day cruise. Be interesting if they did a "cruise to nowhere" after the TA and you didn't have to go through customs at all!
