sweet angel-the coffee bar is not open 24/7 and there is a cost for the "special coffees " and the Americana and the desserts. Up on the lido deck- the coffee, pizza, ice cream, hot tea, hot cocoa, are open 24/7. Some friends of ours on our last cruise introduced us to something wonderful at the pizza place-a garlic cheese roll. Basically they take the pizza dough, roll it into bread rolls, and then smother them with garlic and cheese. They are fantastic! Add a cesear salad, and pure heaven! I am not big on the ship pizza. Being an ex Jersey girl, the cheese needs to drip and ooze and the ship pizza just doesn't do that. But the cheesy garlic rolls are GREAT!:)

Thank you!

Thank you!

You are welcome. I hope you enjoy your cruise on the Legend. We are really looking forward to boarding her again. There have been a lot of changes done to her since we were on her last.

We'll be boarding the Legend in less than two months!! Keep the pictures coming...this surely helps pass the time!

Does anyone know what night the Chef Table dinner is scheduled for? We would like to do try it, and eat in the steak house, also. We have an anniversary on board and would like to do one of them on our special night.

When you board a table will be set up with info re: Chef's Table. If you like the menu you can sign up then.

  • 2 weeks later...

Let's bump this thread back up to the top. There have been a lot of good Legend reviews lately. Perhaps some of you could add some tips, photos, or even links to your reviews. These are all very helpful for those stuck on land counting down to when we finally get to cruise again!

Thanks for your response. It's not actually the quantity of food, but sometimes we don't feel like going to the MDR being stuck there for over an hour while everyone eats, you know? Or sometimes we don't feel like changing out of our shorts and t-shirts and don't want to be dressed inappropriately for dinner. Just wanted to be sue there were other options...and late night snacks available. My DH is a snacker.

Is the coffee shop a fee-based thing?

We are used to the Royal Promenade on RCI (snacks and coffee/tea 24/7) and just want to be aware of our options.

I'm liking the sound of the martiini flight!

If you have Your Time Dining and get a table for just your party, you can let the waiter know you have plans after dinner so you'd like to keep it under an hour. You're on your own timetable with YTD. But, as others said, there are other options for dinner, as well. We've eaten at the Lido buffet a number of times when wanting to skip the MDR.

The coffee shop is fee-based, but I'm there every morning when they open to get my latte. :D:D

Dburdan - I can assure you that the Piano Bar Entertainer is fine.... Great Voice, plays requests, and is not confrontational at all! I know this very well as he is my husband!!!

As for Kirk Benning the CD - great guy, very visible, hosts all the shows etc and has time for everyone.

Enjoy your cruise!

Carol, I just read your great review of your mother/daughter cruise (Happy Mother's Day!) and I just wanted to say that re the refund Carnival gave you in the form of OBC, I had that happen once and didn't think I could spend all the OBC and went down to Guest Services and they gave me cash instead, no problem. Another option to keep in mind.

We (me, DH, 20yo DD) just got off the Legend this morning. We had an awesome week! The weather was terrific and the ports were wonderful! We did the Turtles excursion in Grand Cayman and the Zoo excursion in Belize.

We had an obstructed balcony cabin - our first balcony. We loved being able to sit out there in the morning and have coffee and breakfast and watch the ship pull into ports.

We had ATD (YTD?) and never had to wait. However, we do like to eat early. We were usually there right around 6pm. We thought most of the food was good. DD loves mac and cheese and she ordered it one night off of the kids' menu and thought it was DISGUSTING. (And this is a girl who will eat blue box mac and cheese.) My favorite dessert was the bitter and blanc, although I did have the WCMC several nights.

Is the Sushi free and either way what time does it open and where is it located? If its not free what are the prices? Thanks!

Yes, sushi is free. There's a sushi that's open (I think every night) from 5-8:15pm on the 2nd deck, sort of near the casino. It's also on the menu in the MDR at least one night.

What a great thread!!

I'm sailing on the Legend in November and can't wait!!

I've read on some reviews for other ships that if you book a meal in the steakhouse for the first evening, you get a free bottle of wine - does anyone know if this happens on the Legend as well?? Or was I dreaming when I read this!!!

Thanks for the info ... Happy Sailing Everyone :D

Yes, that's true for the Legend too.

Can you tell us about the tenders in Belize and Grand Cayman? Do they only let the people with Carnival excursions off first? Last time we were in GC on the Inspiration the tenders were a disaster--people stood in lines for hours trying to get back onboard. Did you have any issues?

We had no issues with the tenders in either of these ports, but we had Carnival excursions in both of them. However, it didn't seem to be chaos. If you had an excursion from a different company, you went to the Follies lounge (theater) and signed up for a tender ticket. They were tendering those folks along with us.

I didn't notice any horrific lines to get back to the ship, and those lines had nothing to do with which excursion you were on. Once we were through with both of our excursions, we had some time to spend in the port area, and then caught whichever tender was next.

It could be if you wait til the last minute, there are terrible lines, but we went back about an hour or so before the last tender in Belize and an hour and a half before the last tender in Cayman.

Yeah, the only time it seems a little chaotic or line is first tender of the morning and the last minute ones back to the ship. Obviously everyone will wait until the last minute to return so there is a line on the pier waiting for the tenders. No worries
