gschwartz001 Posted May 4, 2012 #1 Share Posted May 4, 2012 I have a very easy question - my DH and I are sailing in Alaska in July on Radiance. Is the casino open at all during the cruise? A friend mentioned that when she went to Alaska it was not since you are not in international waters - but wanted to get more official info and figured this was the perfect place. Thanks in advance for any info. Gail

Langley Cruisers Posted May 4, 2012 #3 Share Posted May 4, 2012 Is the casino open at all during the cruise? The casino is not open in port, though. During a port stop, the shops and casino are closed.
tahoemc Posted May 4, 2012 #4 Share Posted May 4, 2012 The casino is not open in port, though. During a port stop, the shops and casino are closed. That was our experience as well on Vision a few years ago.
negc Posted May 4, 2012 #5 Share Posted May 4, 2012 As is the case on almost all cruises, the shops and casino are closed while the ship is in port. Shortly after she sails each day, they are both open. I actually came away from our Alaska cruise with more money than I started because of some generous slot machines. That is the exception to the rule, but the casinos are definitely open during a good part of your cruise.
Ashland Posted May 4, 2012 #6 Share Posted May 4, 2012 Isn't the casino closed when in Glacier Bay ;)
klingoncruiser Posted May 4, 2012 #7 Share Posted May 4, 2012 Isn't the casino closed when in Glacier Bay ;) Ya would think that... and yet... I cut through the casino about 3 years back on X and lo and behold there were about 4 people in there pulling the slots. Go figure. However, this was in Hubbard. RCI does not go to Glacier. I don't get it...you come to Alaska to see glaciers and they were doing what when there? Oh well..... And yes, the casino will be open for donations like always.

xmasteach Posted May 5, 2012 #9 Share Posted May 5, 2012 the casino is closed when you are in a National Park, thus closed in Glacier Bay.
cruiseclues Posted May 5, 2012 #10 Share Posted May 5, 2012 Interesting about the National Parks...even sitting out in the water. :)

That's exactly why I posted #7..it's a National Park..guess I should have qualified my answer and shouldn't assume everyone knows it is ;):)
