There are no Dry docks in Australia

 

Ummm yes there are Dry docks in Australia! There are at lest two / three that I know off that cruise ships use.

 

Thanks Kiwi cruiser. Just didn't seem possible Australia didn't have any dry docks.

Thanks for confirming that indeed there are dry docks in Australia. Knowing how many boats they have of their own -- I just couldn't concieve that they would have to haul boats to other places for dry docks.

They would try to wait 7 months to fix it because each canceled cruise costs them million$ of dollar$ in revenue not to mention the nightmare of trying to place hundreds of workers on other ships.

 

The crew stay on the ship -- unless they are scheduled for their vacation time. I have talked to a few crew who said that many days they worked without air conditioning. Besides doing deep cleaning in the cabins -- they are assigned other duties -- like helping to move furniture. Dining room are also assigned other duties.

None of the crew get to sit around and do nothing.
