Alaska Cruise June 17, 2012

Just a couple of questions from a HAL newbie ....

  1. How many 'formal' nights on this cruise?
  2. Is there a self-serve laundry on the ship?

I read that there are usually 2 formal nights for a 7-day cruise but nothing specific to this itinerary where I've heard things could be more casual.

Thanks in advance for your response(s)!

Welcome to Cruise Critic.

There are 3 ships leaving on June 17, 2012.

All will have 2 formal nights.

Statendam -- does have self service laundries -- $2 for washer and $1 for the dryer.

Zaandam -- does have self self service laundries -- same prices.

You can get quarters at the front desk. There are buttons on most machine that you push for the special bio-liquid soap. Take your own fabric softner sheets for the dryer.

Oosterdam -- no self service laundries. You can either get the unlimited laundry or do the laundry by the bag ($20) - small bag.

Ship? (I think some do some dont)

Are you aware that HAL has a laundry package? We called HAL to have it added to our vacation.

Ooops forgot to mention the details (!) ... we're on the Oosterdam sailing from Seattle on June 17 (7 day cruise).

Just found out that the unlimited laundry is $49. If you choose the $20 'Luxury By The Bag' option, you need to give 48 hr notice and finally, all the laundry info is in your stateroom so not necessary to book it ahead of time.

Thanks again for your quick and helpful responses!

I was on the Volendam, so if it's the same class of ship, the self service laundries were on Deck 3, and up on Deck 7 (there was another deck between the two that also had it, but I can't remember it).

Even though we were on Deck 2, we used the Deck 7 one as it seemed to be less busy.
