LambKnuckles Posted May 27, 2012 Author #303 Share Posted May 27, 2012 And... other flying things too... The float planes are coming and going and fascinating to watch!!! I think it's time to head back to the ship... and watch the float planes from the side of the ship, that can see them land too!!! Just a couple more photos... from the store just before the ship... I wish I could have afforded and brought this back to my Wolf loving DD... And getting closer to being on board again...
golfpccc Posted May 27, 2012 #304 Share Posted May 27, 2012 Hi Lambie, Loving your review--I don't think you ever have a bad time!! Wish I could have half your energy. Dave really wants to cruise to Alaska, but I have been dragging my feet--just don't like to be cold. After seeing all your pictures & reading about the rain, snow & cold, even Dave is having second thoughts--actually, he didn't care for the rough waters of the Pacific. However, the small towns look very quaint. But, isn't the Spirit a beautiful ship--so much more elegant than other Carnival ships--we really enjoyed the ship--so easy to get around. We also loved Jay & Stu. SO BRILLIANT!! Carla & Dave
LambKnuckles Posted May 27, 2012 Author #305 Share Posted May 27, 2012 Watching the float planes land is just mesmerizing!! And soon we here the announcements... This message is for XYZ, please call 7777... I wonder how many late returners there are??? But we're ready to leave... I decide to go forward to see the other ships... I love some of the Celebrity Infinity's aft balcony cabin's and suites...
LambKnuckles Posted May 27, 2012 Author #306 Share Posted May 27, 2012 And Bye bye Radiance... Bye Ketchikan... As we sail out... The shore and mountians and sights...
LambKnuckles Posted May 27, 2012 Author #307 Share Posted May 27, 2012 A typical Ketchikanian family??? And to the aft to say a final farewell and continue watching the sights... And the sights as we sail off, farther south towards Victoria, British Columbia, Canada

LambKnuckles Posted May 27, 2012 Author #309 Share Posted May 27, 2012 Then off to dinner... It's Mother's Day and all the women are offered a special dessert and flower... Oh... DELICIOUS and much too rich... Heavy, think chocolate raspberry ganache-y-fudge, with a solid chocolate "lid" and raspberries and a strawberry between... And the evening Show: The BIG EASY... New Orleans music... I think it's all a ploy to get me in the mood for my next cruise from NOLA, in late September!! But the outside, the sunset, catches my eye and I sit close to the Pharoah's Palace, so I can hear the music, but able to run out and capture moments of this WONDERFUL sunset!!! LambKnuckles Posted May 27, 2012 Author #311 Share Posted May 27, 2012 I live for the sights and sunsets and sunrises on a cruise!!! I wander the ship again... and I try to be brave... To walk the glass stairs to the Steakhouse... But I couldn't. However, at least this time, I can look through the stairs and photograph the "view"... LambKnuckles Posted May 27, 2012 Author #312 Share Posted May 27, 2012 (edited) It's passed 11:00 at night... and it's dark out, but my camera captures the wake and the remaining sunset from the Serenity Deck... The sky appears blue, because the lens has to be open longer to capture the sight... It really is dark... You know the "toes" photos that many take in the Caribbean photos?? Well, here's my attempt at night on the swing from the Serenity Deck: Toes from Alaska!!! ...and I bring the flower back to the cabin... Nightie night!!! LambKnuckles Posted May 27, 2012 Author #314 Share Posted May 27, 2012 Lambie, you are doing great!!!! THANKS!!! I'm trying to remember it all... but I know I'll forget some!!! Lambie - Thank you for putting all this effort and energy into a GREAT review. Love all the pictures!! Silver You can't believe how I felt on this cruise... How much I LOVED it!! Even with the cold and damp! And, I wish I had taken more photos in Juneau... but it was rainy and drizzly, and my new camera isn't waterproof or water resistant... So I just didn't take it out! But THANK YOU! Hi Lambie, Loving your review--I don't think you ever have a bad time!! Wish I could have half your energy. We also loved Jay & Stu. SO BRILLIANT!! Carla & Dave You had that 14 day Hawaii and back right before our cruise... You KNOW how beautiful the SPIRIT is!!! I hate for anything I'm saying to thwart anyone from Alaska... but I understand! I'm being honest and there were bitter cold times, and damp, wet times, and BEAUTIFUL and refreshing times!!! The towns are truly fun to visit and learn about. I understand why the fares are lower for the beginning and end of the season. I think the weather is a HUGE factor!!! So maybe a July cruise would work??? I'm glad you enjoyed Stu and Jay... Weren't they great!!! And Capt Volpi... he's a HOOT!!! THANK YOU, Carla... :)
cruiserguy11 Posted May 27, 2012 #315 Share Posted May 27, 2012 I'm loving your review. If I had to pick just one word to describe your personality, it would be BUBBLY. :) You have the most wonderful way of enjoying everything you see and experience. I laughed so much at your pic of "toes." As you said everyone takes pics of their toes in the warm sand ... but yours is so unique. Hiding under the blanket, then under the socks...Hey must be toes. :D Thank you for putting this fantastic review together.
Bobbicat Posted May 27, 2012 #316 Share Posted May 27, 2012 Lambie, I am so loving your review, helps me relive some of our times there. I would have to say I loved Ketchikan best too. Juneau was probably my least favorite, I think because my ears were the most cold there...haha. I believe it was Juneau where we did the float plane over the glaciers and that was awesome. I too hope we can go and experience it again some day.
CanWeGoYet? Posted May 27, 2012 #317 Share Posted May 27, 2012 I think that is so great that someone signed ASL to the Karaoke song. I'm not a fan of karaoke but I would have loved to have seen that. Congrats on narrowing down the vases to 3 favorites - there were some I loved but that would have been tough. I liked a couple of the paintings too on the stair landings next to the vases. You got a lot of great shots of Ketchikan. We didn't wander a lot because it was raining so hard & so windy. Apparently a lot of people didn't even leave the ship that day, or left only briefly. Glad I got a better look through your pictures.

MilliesMom Posted May 28, 2012 #319 Share Posted May 28, 2012 Those glass stairs ... YIKES. I've seen them in person, and there is no way I'm going to get on them. It is interesting to people watch (adults and children) when they get to the stairs and realize they are glass and you can see all the way down to the atrium. Talus731 Posted May 28, 2012 #320 Share Posted May 28, 2012 Great review, especially loving the part of my home town, Silverdale. Not often I see that. Glad you enjoyed yourself here. I am looking forward to taking this cruise one day. Your picture are gorgeous and shared some with the hubby. Hinting for a new camera before our next cruise. Thank you for sharing. Crusin Karen Posted May 28, 2012 #321 Share Posted May 28, 2012 Yea, the stairs...the only time I was on them was to take pictures and when we went one time to the chef demonstration on the lst sea day of our Miracle cruise. I wore crocs and CLUNG to the bannister for dear life. Can you imagine walking down them in heals after you've had a 6 course dinner and a couple bottles of wine!?!:eek::eek:

It is interesting to people watch (adults and children) when they get to the stairs and realize they are glass and you can see all the way down to the atrium. I got up there, realized too late the glass stairs & how you see all the way down. I was able to walk back down but had to force myself not to look down. Fear of heights....not as bad as the "walk of faith" in China - have only seen photos & no way I could handle that.

I'm just glad there is an elevator you can take to that deck and to the restaurant (specialty) there. I think if I had been in your situation, I would of froze in place. Like you, I have a fear of heights. There is something too about a glass floor. When we were on the Mariner of the Seas, they have a glass curio box type floor into the casino. I could only walk on it if I didn't look down and it was probably about 8 inches deep and filled with things. Just gave me a creepy feeling. Oh my gosh, just checked out the walk of faith ...there is absolutely, positively no way I would even go near that. Feel the same way about the lookout at the grand canyon that is all glass too. http://www.demilked.com/walk-of-faith-glass-pavement-built-on-4690ft-mountain-in-china/ (walk of faith photos if you haven't seen it). mumofsons Posted May 28, 2012 #325 Share Posted May 28, 2012 Good morning Lambie, This may seem like a strange questions since we will be cruising Alaska - and we are cruising for the Alaska experience but did you notice how busy the casino was? I know DH will like to spend some time in there especially in the evenings after dinner. Do you know when the casino was opened? Thanks for the wonderful review!
