runner15km Posted May 3, 2005 #1 Share Posted May 3, 2005 Anyone sail on Halloween ? Any special parties or activities? Should we bring a costume? Halloween on my cruise will be on the first formal night and I was wondering how to dress. Maybe as Count Dracula, I believe he wore a tux. nb1mom Posted May 3, 2005 #3 Share Posted May 3, 2005 We were on the Pride last year on Halloween night. As this was the first night of our cruise I don't think Greg expected so much activity and so many people dressed up. There were a lot of different costumes and it was fun to see them and then see the pictures in the lobby. I personally did not dress up, but if you are interested I say go with it! Beffy1167 Posted May 3, 2005 #4 Share Posted May 3, 2005 Yes.......there will be a party! If you're willing to put on a costume in front of a bunch of strangers, GO FOR IT! We didn't participate in the costume party when I cruised over Halloween, but those who did had a great time! They even had a contest and gave prizes for such things as 'best costume', 'most unusual,' etc.......I don't remember them all.

eastexascruiser Posted May 3, 2005 #6 Share Posted May 3, 2005 We've been on 2 Halloween cruises & have another planned for this year. Both of our cruises had Halloween parties & people wore costumes (optional). If you have young children, I would avoid the Rhapsody during the Halloween cruise:eek: . Elation had a great party. We enjoy cruising over Halloween (obviously!)
philly50's Posted May 4, 2005 #7 Share Posted May 4, 2005 I'm glad I found this thread. We will be on the Legend over Halloween and I wouldn't have thought about packing costumes. Now we'll have to think of something to bring, just in case.

It's cool to find other Halloween lovers. =c) My fiance and I are getting married on Oct. 29 and will be on Carnival Miracle the next day. tpcwags Posted June 4, 2005 #11 Share Posted June 4, 2005 Glad to see this thread, I was also wondering because my dw and I will be on the Sensation this year on Halloween and though this will be our 7th cruise we have never sailed on this date. I was thinking that an easy costume for a man would be to get a Phantom of the Opera mask and a black cape to go with your tux. My wife will wear a nice gown and get one of those Masquarade type of mask on a stick. Looking forward to it. Charlie
loopylou Posted June 8, 2005 #12 Share Posted June 8, 2005 Hey all! The last night of our cruise will be halloween! What do you think they'll do for the last night, as far as partying? Pretty awkward as that is the night your bags need to be packed and ready to go! Lou:confused:
GoinCruisin Posted June 8, 2005 #13 Share Posted June 8, 2005 :D We are cruising over Halloween this year with the Valor Vampires... Halloween falls on the first formal night... but we plan on having one heck of a party after dinner!

tpcwags Posted June 9, 2005 #15 Share Posted June 9, 2005 Hi Deb, My dw and I will be staying at the Marriott in Channelside. We stayed there on a previous cruise and it is a fantastic hotel and you can see the ships from your room if you are on the right side of the building. This will be our third cruise out of Tampa (7th or 8th total cruise) and this is our favorite port. Hope to see you on Board or in the hotel. tpcwags Posted June 9, 2005 #16 Share Posted June 9, 2005 Sorry Deb, I just re-read my original post and I said that we would be on the Sensation but we will really be on the Inspiration our of Tampa. We have sailed on the Sensation (think purple). It is a nice ship, pretty much a twin of the Inspiration with a little different decorating theme. If you are looking for a place to stay in New Orleans, there is a Marriott on Canal Street that is about halfway between the river (port) and Bourbon Street but if I were you I would try going to Priceline.com and trying to get a 3 or 4 star hotel in the French Quarter. There are many hotels in New Orleans and it has been my experience that if you don't go below 3 stars rating you will get a decent, clean and comfortable hotel room for 75 to $100.00. Sorry we won't be on the same ship, have a great time and I will be sure to do the same. Charlie
jamr Posted June 11, 2005 #17 Share Posted June 11, 2005 I was on the glory last oct for holloween. They start early in the morning to decorate the promenade deck. They encourage you to bring and wear costumes. We did and had a blast. they also have areas to have pics done. It was very interesting to watch the transformation. They then had a late nite costume parade on the promenade with a contest for best costume in the theater. Go ahead take a costume and have a blast. ahoys Posted June 11, 2005 #18 Share Posted June 11, 2005 I've been on two Halloween Carnival cruises. The first one I didn't bring a costume and wished I had. Everyone dressed up. Thesecond cruise we all brought costumes, and it was a lot of fun. They had a party on deck with a costume parade. They had prizes for the best costumes. Everyone was in costume, and most of the casino employees dressed up too. Really big fun!!
loopylou Posted June 13, 2005 #19 Share Posted June 13, 2005 I definitely will bring a costume. My concern was that Halloween is the last night of our cruise. You know everything has to be packed up and outside your door. Not sure how many people will dress up under those circumstances? :)
