Has anybody booked and took tours through alaska tours. I'm looking at the PWS glacier tour that leaves from Anchorage to Whittier and back again after the tour.

 

HAL had a similar one but they it's now cancelled.

I haven't used them but Alaska Tour and Travel has been around for years. They have an A+ rating with BBB.

You might also want to compare their prices with packages offered by both vendors, Major Marine and Phillips 26 Glaciers. Train or bus.

Or consider renting a car in Anchorage. It's about a 1 hr drive but you have to be mindful of the tunnel opening just outside of Whittier. It's only open once an hour so save your sightseeing for the drive back!

I would recommend people, who are first time or unfamiliar visitors to allow 1 1/4 hour for the drive. IF they stick to the hour recommendation and it takes a few minutes more, then they can miss a tunnel opening.

Thanks for the input, going to book the transportation/26 glacier cruise combo.... will just have to worry about getting to the Hotel Captain Cook, but don't see that being a problem.
