oceanlov1 Posted May 28, 2012 #1 Share Posted May 28, 2012 We just came back from a 4 day Key West, Cozumel cruise on the Imagination and had a great time!! Then I come and read the boards and all I read are complaints about just about everything. Folks, nothing is perfect. I really do not think I am that easy to please, kinda fussy, but I just do not see what all the complaining is about. I will say that the rumored changes in the loyalty program are disappointing, but will I stop cruising Carnival because of it?? No............ I cruise because I love it...............I have been on just about all the major lines and will continue to cruise the ones I enjoy. My top two are Carnival and Holland America. I am lucky enough to hop on the 3 and 4 dayers and drive to the port. No complaints here. Happy Sailing!!

Cjlovestocruise Posted May 28, 2012 #5 Share Posted May 28, 2012 I usually don’t complain much. I am also happy to live near the ports and have the freedom to jump on a cruise at a moment’s notice BUT in the past two days we have learned: 1) The new – highly promoted loyalty program – sucks!!! 2) No more farewell party 3) Ice now needs to be ordered It may be small things – although I don’t think they are - but it is too many changes at the same time

MommaOf3Princesses Posted May 28, 2012 #7 Share Posted May 28, 2012 Loyalty program is set up just like RCL now...it will actually help some people! Wonder how many people out of the 3000ish people on board attended farewell parties....(i never have once)....so is ot affecting a huge number??? Ice? I have no idea what this means....have to order it as opposed to????
goLC Posted May 28, 2012 #8 Share Posted May 28, 2012 If I want ice, I don't mind ordering it. It usually goes to waste (melts) in my cabin anyway, because I'm usually not there! Never went to a farewell party; maybe I didn't know what I was missing. I really don't care a huge deal about perks; it's "perk" enough for me to be on vacation! Cruises are already the best "bang for your buck" - at least in my experience. It would take something much more drastic than having to order ice and missing a party to make me stop cruising! :)

The changes being made don't upset me as much as most. It's just not that serious to me. More important things in life to be stressed about in my opinion. Sargent_Schultz Posted May 28, 2012 #12 Share Posted May 28, 2012 I think the new loyalty program is great - at least from the limited details released so far. The farewell party was poorly attended. Poor advertising is a lame excuse - even most people who knew about it didn't go. Ice doesn't have to be ordered.

Right on!! 100% the way i feel LOL:D why would u want to worry about laundry on vacation? And ordering ice? So what?just order It and thats it. I feel we get pampered alottt and honestly i dont go on vacation to complain. I love sailing carnival and like Previous poster said cruises are already the way to get the biggest bang for your buck! gomba13 Posted May 28, 2012 #15 Share Posted May 28, 2012 This just in.... There are no more chairs on the lido deck. So now we don't have to worry about the chair hog problem. Oh yeah, they are only serving Pop Tarts for breakfast. I agree that things are changing, but rates are dirt cheap. This line is making some nice improvements with the 2.0 upgrade and keeping them free, unlike RCCL. Things change and sometimes they move pretty quickly in order to have a more smooth transition. You all have a good nite and the sun will rise above the water tomorrow. :)

yogimax Posted May 28, 2012 #17 Share Posted May 28, 2012 Loyalty program is set up just like RCL now... Take a few minutes to actually compare both programs, especially at the ten cruise (or approximately 70 day level). There is no comparison. Just off the top of my head, here are some of the things RCCL offers... 1. A 2 1/2 nightly event which includes either wine, beer, champagne or cocktails 2. Free internet 3. Welcome aboard amenity package, which includes snacks, beer, or wine 4. Balcony discounts 5. breakfast with specialty coffees 6. Casino match play coupons 7. Robes to use onboard The list goes on and on, but I think you see how lame Carnival's existing program is... and now they are making it worse! As for the improvements.....they are free for NOW, not necessarily to be FREE in the near future.....wake up and smell the coffee! Anything less than $90 PP a day is cheap. Room choice is dictated by price. I have been all types of rooms and categories. Compare CCL to other lines out there. I was looking at going on the Oasis last July and it cost double of what I paid for 2 on the Dream. I feel that they provide a lot for your dollar. Don't get me wrong, I don't feel like the new loyalty program is the cat's pajamas. I will be 1 away from my 10 after this cruise and will be trapped in gold hell for awhile. I cruise to relax and not worry about who and how many times someone is going to wash my underwear.

Do you have to be someone special on RCCL before you get a robe? Isn't RCCL the cruise line that only provides Ice upon request?

GrUvGrL Posted May 28, 2012 #23 Share Posted May 28, 2012 I have to agree with the original poster! You either like it or you don't. Complaining takes too much effort and if you started cruising because you love the experience... then is having to order ice, not attending a party or having limited laundry facilities REALLY going to spoil your vacay? I am going to be taking advantage of the laundry service this year - at cost, because I am spending 8 days at Disney after the cruise with 2 kids and traveling from Canada means I would have had to do laundry myself at the resort regardless - I never do laundry at home so really would rather not have to on vacay. No matter how I look at it, I have to pay for laundry. For me, even if I brought my laundry home I'd still have to pay my cleaning lady to wash it... so if i had the perk and lost it... not a biggie for me as I am already used to paying for laundry. Poor advertising is a lame excuse - even most people who knew about it didn't go. Ice doesn't have to be ordered. I know you fall into Diamond, so you gain some things, but great? Really? The program is not in line with industry standards. The farewell party was poorly attended not only due to poor advertising, but the timing was crummy. 5:00/5:15 on the last day of the cruise is sooo inconvenient. You're getting ready for dinner, packing, or enjoying the last bit of outdoor Lido fun before returning to reality. Carnival designed this party to fail. Placate people with the farewell party to eliminate the Captain's party, don't advertise the party scheduled at an inconvenient time, and when few people show up, it's not a big deal to eliminate it.
