Solstice - Turning back into Barcelona

Just looking on http://www.marinetraffic.com lookslike some issue, she has turned around and is returning to barcelona

It did make a weird loop back, but now it is heading out.

I was thinking along those lines (ship issues) as well but then the distance of each loop is about the same as the distance back to Barcelona unless they have to wait for a high tide to get back in?

They might be testing the propulsion systems as they go up to 23 knots on the straightaways.

About a foot around Barcelona which is probably negligible.

Stupid question as I do not look at these type of sites, but could this be normal at all for them to do this back and forth? My gut says no, but had to ask.

Two years ago Century made turns like this to test a defective rudder.

 

I hope it is not a pod or steering issue.... but it is very curious.

It sure LOOKS weird! Hopefully someone will post. I wonder how obvious it is onboard, making turns like that. I checked the speed, they weren't slowing into the turns, that's for sure!

FWIW when we left Barcelona a few years back on a HAL ship we were told that we would be doing some manoeuvres for a while before actually setting off on the course for our first port. Perhaps something similar is happening here?

She should have left around 5pm...her first stop is Rome on the 6th.

 

ETA: according to the itinerary I found online for the June 4th cruise.
