Help me choose which deck!!

Recommended Posts

Hi All, looking for some advice from seasoned balcony cruisers. Getting ready to book again on the Liberty and this will be our first balcony! :D Anyone who has an opinion about which deck is best to stay on (choices for us are Upper, Verandah, Lido, or Spa decks), please share!!

The obvious choice to me would be any deck sandwiched between 2 other decks that are only used for staterooms (to avoid noise from above and below) but unfortunately, there are no staterooms available on deck 7 (empress I think?)

What is it like to stay on Lido? Does noise carry over to where the staterooms are? Would be kind of cool to be so close to all of the action but not if it's too noisy!

How about the Spa deck? We can stay up there for a small price increase... is it worth it?

Thanks for any input!!!

Last cruise we had a Balcony on Panorma Deck andhave booked it again for this year. Little traffic becuse if you room isnt there why are you wondering the halls. Noise did not carry over fromthe lido deck. Its a nice quite location. Balcony on the Glory on deck 6 mid ship heard all of the music from the lobby bar area. Lasted well into the late night but still nothing to complain about.

My opinion....

1. Aft-wrap.... decks 6, 7, 8 at the rear corners or the ship. QUITE a premium over a standard balcony. These cabins are really all ABOUT the balcony which is in a class to itself.... If these cabins are unavailable OR a little too expensive then...

2. Spa balcony. I LOVE the Spa deck! SHORT hall....cabins on ONE side of the hall...not a lot of passengers....quiet too! Best of all...you are just a FEW steps to the Lido deck, deck chairs, pool.... VERY easy to get to the ACTION! I actually had 1115 on the Triumph...very similar layout.

Love the Lido balconies. Four of last five cruise have been Lido balconies. Tried an aft and I liked it, but location of Lido is best for me.

Close to pool and buffet. Not close to casino and MDR, but you are never going to be close to everything.

Hubby would like to be on the Lido deck but I'm concerned about noise... does noise carry over to the cabins from the other side of the deck where all of the action is??

I have heard that being up that high, you feel more motion of the ship - potential problem for people (like me!!) that tend toward sea-sickness. Is this true?

No doubt the higher up, the more movement. Normally...we didn't notice any movement at all and we were a little concerned prior to the cruise. But I've had cabins from deck 5 to 14 and when it's smooth it's smooth but when it's rough....you're gonna know it no matter where your cabin is.

just returned from cruise on the Glory. Had 4 balcony cabins on Deck 8 Starboard side 8347 8349 8351 and 8353. Loved the location as we could just walk up to lido deck, but being under the Buffet you could really hear the chairs sliding above when on the balcony. Very loud at times. Might would do again but would love same cabin area on the 7th deck. We cruised 4 times on Deck 7 starboard and still is our favorite. Try to have cabins above and below for less noise.

We booked the Lido for our next cruise. I have read from others that noise will not be a problem (less foot traffic). Looking forward to being right near the action!

We've always had cabins on deck 7, Empress (1 inside, 1 aft, 1 regular balcony). Empress is generally quieter (cabins above and below) and fairly close to everything (2 up to the Lido, 2 down to the Promenade). Hoping our Lido cabin does not disappoint :)

For years I always booked Panorama deck & loved it...didn't matter which ship. One time we booked Lido (# 9233 on the Glory) & that was a great location & surprisingly quiet. Lately I'm loving the cabins very near the glass elevators on Verandah...both starboard and port. The last 2 cruises were there, & the next 2 coming up are also. I don't get seasick, so higher up is fine for me.

I prefer the starboard or port side balconies though...I know I'm in the minority, but had an aft balcony once & will never do that again! While the view & the motion were fabulous...the balcony got soaked (& me with it) every afternoon while the crew was hosing off the Lido deck!!

Anybody have any issues with noise in the evening in the port side aft balconies on deck 6? We were in a similar situation as the OP and decided to go with the upper deck but I'm hoping it's not too loud at night.

Any more input would be great, thanks!

Which ship?

This area has absolutely zero issues on a Spirit class or Fantasy class ship but could possibly present issues on other classes.

Our favorite cabins have been Lido Deck Cabins near the elevators. So convenient! And only once did we hear noise .. and that was the night of the Lido Deck party.... but not enough for it to bother us!!

We would book a Lido Deck cabin in a heartbeat.. but this time, we have decided to finally try and Aft Wrap!!

Had spa balcony on Destiny. Didn't like upper deck being able to see over into balcony. The top is only half way covered over head. You heard them talking up there all the time.

Had panoramic balcony on Freedom and liked it much better. Close to lido and close to serenity deck. Not noisy at all (except for the family fighting a couple of doors down:eek: security had to come talk to them eventually!)

the only place we cruise from is on lido balconies, we were in 9293 on the Lido ,literally the first cabin before the pool and deck .We hear nothing .So easy to go grab a quick bite from the grill or grab a soda from the bar.You will be like us if you book these cabins ,we cant book anywhere else now.I dont know if you have ever sailed conquest class(thats all we cruise) but there are glass doors that lead to the deck and there is a regular door that can be closed so you really cant hear any noise at all

We've had a cabin on the Lido Deck on many different Carnival ships. There are Star Trek "swooshing" doors between the living spaces and the pool deck so we have never heard any noise. In fact, on our Dream cruise last month, we were only five cabins from the pool area and still didn't hear any noise.

It is so convenient being close to the action.

Lee-doh, Lee-doh, Lee-doh - Lido cabins rock. You never hear a peep from the pool area and your cabin is so very close and convenient to the pool areas, buffet dining, late night snacks, etc. Not to mention how close it is to go back to YOUR cabin for restroom breaks instead of having to go to the public rooms. :D
