Dorset Cruiser Posted June 19, 2012 #1 Share Posted June 19, 2012 We will be calling into Naples on Crown Princess. As we have visited many times and been to most of the sites, is it easy to do a day trip to Ischia from Naples? If so, how long is the trip? How much is the fare approximately? and where does the ferry go from in Naples? Thanks in advance for any responses!
euro cruiser Posted June 19, 2012 #2 Share Posted June 19, 2012 Ferries to Ischia leave from Molo Beverello, the next pier over from the cruise port (Molo Angioino). Several companies run ferries between Naples and Ischia, so you do just as you would for Capri and check the board when you get to Molo Beverello, then buy a ticket for the next boat leaving. Here are two of them: http://www.medmargroup.it/home.php?articolo=1&adv=mt http://www.alilauro.it/
Rare Hlitner Posted June 19, 2012 #3 Share Posted June 19, 2012 About 5 years ago we did the trip over to Ischia because we wanted to see something different from the usual Naples stuff (been there more then a dozen times). On Ischia you can take the local bus all the way around the island (in either direction) but we were not overly impressed with the place. They do have their share of resort hotels but this is not very helpful on a day trip. Another island that looked interesting (we passed it on the way to Ischia) is the smaller island of Procida (we will try this on a future visit). Dorset Cruiser Posted June 19, 2012 Author #4 Share Posted June 19, 2012 How long is the actual crossing to Ischia by hydrofoil?
euro cruiser Posted June 19, 2012 #5 Share Posted June 19, 2012 It takes about 45 minutes to get there by boat. I don't think Ischia is a great place to just wander, I think you need a plan before you head out there or you may be frustrated. Lots of folks go just for the day for the spas. You can read more about the island here: http://www.infoischiaprocida.it/main.php
