Muster on Overnight Cruises

We're booked on the Emerald for the 12-day Canada and Colonial cruise scheduled for October 26th. We overnight on the 26th and sail on the 27th.

We are looking at excursions and wonder if anyone would know if the muster would take place on the date you sail.

Thank you very much.

it will be held the day you board. I think cruise lines have gone to this convention following the Costa ship disaster. Why not ask princess about this?

We did this a few years ago and it was on the 2nd day. Not sure if things have changed with Concordia but there doesn't seem a good reason to have it on a day when you are docked.

We have had two overnights on Princess, one before the Concordia disaster and one after. On the first, muster was held a few hours after sailing on the second day and was much more lax. On this last one, muster was held immediately before sailing on the second day and was extremely serious, with the crew scanning cards and doing head counts. I think if you have an overnight now, you can expect muster before sailing, regardless of what time sailaway is.

Since people are allowed to embark the ship on both days, the muster will be held on the second day after the manifest has closed and before sailing to ensure that all passengers re included.

That makes perfect sense. I was also wondering how they handled an overnight stay.
