Help! I need a definitive answer

Recommended Posts

I am on the Oasis next May and I have a port side balcony. I am the type of cruiser that likes to see the ports when the ship is docked, not the ocean,I will see that enough while cruising.

I have read on CC that the Oasis class ships always dock starboard side facing the islands. Is this true? According to Royal Caribbean they dock on either side of the ship depending on which slip is available.

The reason I am asking is because I have the opportunity to switch to the cabin I want on the starboard side but I don't know what to do.

TIA

The ship usually docks on its starboard side unless there is something unusual going on like a starboard side lifeboat drill. You have a much better chance of getting what you are looking for by switching but it is not a guarantee.

The Oasis has an escalator on the starboard side for disembarking and docks on that side MOST of the time. We have had two starboard cabins and were definitely next to the dock both times in all ports. The only time she docks on the port side is during lifeboat drills or maintainence. Switch that cabin and have a great time. Try to be close to an elevator/stair bank if you want to lessen the long hall trek. Have a great cruise.

Unless you are looking at the side of another ship! That was the case last Dec. and this Mar. when Mariner was in Cozumel. Oasis was docked at her starboard and looking diriectly onto the Mariner's port side. No views at all, well, except for looking at people and cabins on the Mariner! In that case, the folks on the Oasis' port side were looking at the port.

Unless you are looking at the side of another ship! That was the case last Dec. and this Mar. when Mariner was in Cozumel. Oasis was docked at her starboard and looking directly onto the Mariner's port side. No views at all, well, except for looking at people and cabins on the Mariner! In that case, the folks on the Oasis' port side were looking at the port.

Select the Royal Loft, a Sky Loft or even any of the Crown Loft suites, and you will be able to see above and beyond the other ship, even in this rare occasion when there is another ship docked next to the Oasis, as you will be elevated, high up on the 17th and 18th deck.
