transportation recommendations from civitavecchia to Rome

I will be taking a cruise in October and would like recommendations on inexpensive transportation from Civitaveccia to Rome.

You will need to define inexpensive. Europe is not, generally, inexpensive. That being said, train is the cheapest. After that, again, you need to define inexpensive.

Also, get a copy of Rick Steves' Mediterranean Cruise Ports for lots of suggestions about how to do your ports on your own. Join the roll call for your cruise to meet others who will be sailing with you. they will be full of plans for independent excursions. EM

As mentioned a good place to visit is the Italy Ports Of Call Board.

 

I would highly recommend Rome Cabs which is a private vehicle service not a taxi service and is often recommended on the ports board along with a few other services.

 

We've used them and were very pleased.

You also need to specify where in Rome you want to go as that will impact your options.

The train is very inexpensive and not that hard to use. Next would probably be some kind of car transfer service, like Rome in Limo or Bob's Limo. If you can find others to share a ride, this isn't that expensive.
