golfadj Posted July 23, 2012 #76 Share Posted July 23, 2012 This concerns me. I have no problem with adults playing the machine. To set it up on the edge of the casino though and have it attract children seems to cross the ethical line for me. Children are not allowed to watch in the casino, let alone play. Yet, it seems like Carnival is trying to tempt the kids by making it appear that they can have a casino experience by tossing their money into this machine. Something's wrong here! Or is it just me who thinks this way? You are correct this is not the place for this. They put it there so it can attract attention and generate crowds waiting for their chance to feed the machine. golfadj Posted July 23, 2012 #77 Share Posted July 23, 2012 Sounds like Casino Marketing 101 Still trying to figure out how this is a Rip Off. Doesnt change the chance of winning, so now explain how it is a Rip Off. If the game is set so that at certain times you have ZERO chance of winning what else would you call it. ladylikes2cruise Posted July 23, 2012 #78 Share Posted July 23, 2012 On the subject of kids playing the vault. On the Destiny last month, there was a slightly smaller version of the vault in the video game room. It contained just, nano's, iPods, small headsets, etc. No cash!!! My 14yo grand son, spend time and money trying, and plenty of kids along with him. So not all of them (vaults) are in or near the casino:D
nonna5 Posted July 23, 2012 #79 Share Posted July 23, 2012 The machine (at least on the Paradise) was on the edge of the casino... when you're sitting at the machine the chair is actually in the aisle of the Promenade deck, so technically, not considered inside the casino, I guess. There were a ton of kids playing the machine every time I passed, and lots of casino workers around- no one ever said anything so I guess it's allowed. Kids are not allowed to play on the Triumph. They were always telling the kids they could not play when I was sitting at the casino bar. I found it strange that kids could not play it because you can go to any gameroom around here for kids and this type of game is there for anyone to play. Rare Tom-n-Cheryl Posted July 23, 2012 #82 Share Posted July 23, 2012 What does it cost to play? For the small cost of one dollar, you too can have a chance at cash and great prizes. But, if you act now and are one of the first one hundred million contestants, for $10 you will receive not one but TEN chances to win these great prizes! :D Tom

mkluvs2cruise Posted July 23, 2012 #84 Share Posted July 23, 2012 Just returned from a B2B on the Glory. The Casino Vault game is a major rip off. I never once played it but found it interesting how Carnival would take one iPad and some money out of the machine halfway through each cruise to give the appearance that someone won something. If people are winning as Carnival says they are, that means on back to back cruises on the Glory, they gave away 2 iPads and about $3000 in 9 days. Just got back off the dream and witnessed a lucky lady win an I pad then put another dollar in and win a stack of cash! So people do win just not you or ME for that matter lol I should mention she did it with just 2 dollars some people have all the luck

edmusic Posted July 23, 2012 #86 Share Posted July 23, 2012 We just got off the Splendor yesterday and I believe the game is rigged so that it won't allow a winner until more money has been put in than is given out, way more! So, it's really not a game of skill as it is portrayed to be and thus is a rip-off in my opinion. I'm pretty good at games like this and I came millimeters close on my 20 attempts and as one man watching me said, the machine continued to move even after I released the ball. We do know first hand of a $1000 winner and a cash/iPad winner so it will pay out eventually, but only after a tidy profit is first guaranteed. missypriss19 Posted July 23, 2012 #87 Share Posted July 23, 2012 I won an IPad and $500 on Christmas Day on one of these machines on the Magic. They are fun to play. And I only put in $10.

You forget the part about the rung / row programming as different values. Each value is tracked individually by the machine. Not the machine as a whole. It does not have a "random number generator". It is possible ( rare but possible ) to win on one row and then on another on the next play.

mamajo3304 Posted July 31, 2012 #91 Share Posted July 31, 2012 When we were on Paradise in May, we could always tell when someone was playing. The crowd would just keep growing with each dollar pumped into it. The thing I found interesting is that the crowd really wants to see the player to win because when they would miss (I never did see anyone win), the whole crowd would groan. ZoeyVictoria Posted July 31, 2012 #93 Share Posted July 31, 2012 I put about $30 into the machine on the Miracle. I am blind in one eye so my depth perception is terrible, but I consistently stopped at exactly the same point on almost every play. Definitely odd that my vision problems are not a problem when it comes to the vault.

Even over the course of just a day, I hasten to think how many $1's might be fed into that game! No doubt, plenty enough to payout as you indicated!
