stipmom Posted August 15, 2012 #1 Share Posted August 15, 2012 What would you suggest we do for the day? Rouen?Giverny?Mont St Michel? or something else. Thanks
Rare Hlitner Posted August 15, 2012 #2 Share Posted August 15, 2012 Rouen is certainly an easy daytrip as you can simply take the train. It is an large city with enough to keep most folks happy for a port day. Giverny is fascinating for we Monet lovers, but its not as easy on public transit. For Giverny we suggest renting a car. Mont St Michel is a pretty long trip (but doable) from LeHavre but you would either need to book a tour or rent a car and be prepared for a 2 1/2 hour drive each way. With a rental car there are some options such as driving over to Fecamp and Etretat. Hank
Langoustine Posted August 15, 2012 #3 Share Posted August 15, 2012 Mont St. Michel. It's a must-see in Normandy.
edinburgher Posted August 16, 2012 #4 Share Posted August 16, 2012 We have also had visits to Le Havre. Looking at your previous visits I would suggest Rouen. We took the train there and back. It is quite straightforward from Le Havre. As said before, enough there to hold interest for a day. Another time we intended to do Fecamp and Etretat but only had time for Etretat. We took the local public bus. It was a beautiful day and we lingered there longer than planned, walking the cliffs (which were stunning on a blue sky/sunny day) It left us with spare time but not enough for Fecamp, so on the way back we got off the bus in Le Havre town centre and walked back to the port from there. There are a few points of interest in the centre.
