ladyfrost Posted August 24, 2012 #1 Share Posted August 24, 2012 Some dear friends of our are taking their first Princess Cruise next week out of Vancouver and still cannot print one of their boarding passes. They have called Princess a number of times with who tells them to just keeping trying as there have been some problems with the system. This has now been going on for over 3 weeks. All of their entered information is correct, reads right and has been confirmed by the Princess telephone rep. Also the e mails they have sent Princess has not been replied to...hmm?? Their travel agent has tried for them and called Princess and we have tried on our computer as well. At this point they are not impressed with Princess and are worried about showing up without a boarding pass. Any ideas out there would be a help. Thank you
Princess Patches Posted August 24, 2012 #2 Share Posted August 24, 2012 You don't have to have a boarding pass to enter the terminal at San Pedro and I imagine it is the same at Vancouver. When we sailed out of LA in May we just showed our booking documentation to enter the cruise ship terminal and then received our boarding passes when we checked in at the counter. Rare MicCanberra Posted August 24, 2012 #4 Share Posted August 24, 2012 If they have the rest of the paperwork, it should not be a major issue to sort out on the dock.:D

Thank you You are right in that it should work and is frustrating but as has been said, you don't need a boarding pass to check in. It just helps expedite the process as everything is electronic. If it makes them feel any better, they can print their travel summary. With their passport and credit card, the check-in rep will check them in. You'd be surprised at how many people forget to print their boarding pass or leave it at home, so the reps are used to it.

iluvcruzin Posted August 24, 2012 #7 Share Posted August 24, 2012 All they need is identification that matches the booking. No worries. We've checked in this way before in multiple terminals. For those who plan to pay their sign & sail with cash, they don't let you print it off without entering a credit card. No worries, one can still check in and set up a cash account. molly2kit Posted August 24, 2012 #8 Share Posted August 24, 2012 One cruise I left my boarding pass and other items on the table inside the front door at home - had my passport and wallet though - realized when I got to the cruise terminal and had absolutely no problem boarding. ladyfrost Posted August 24, 2012 Author #10 Share Posted August 24, 2012 All their documentation [other than the one boarding pass] is printed off and will be going with them. Credit Card was used and accepted, passports have a couple of years left on them...etc. etc...every i has been dotted and t crossed. This couple have been travelling the world for many years and are very knowledgable. Cruising has not been their preferred method of travel other than a few river cruises, including India and an Oceania cruise. I'm sure from all your advice they will make out okay at the Port of Vancouver without a boarding pass, which will help with the anxiety. It still is a poor show for Princess with their customer service. We are truly hoping that their onboard experience is wonderful and they would like to cruise again. Thank you again for your input. Cheers, Sue

Cheers, Sue Were they able to print luggage tags?. If not, they may need to update their Adobe Acrobat reader to print pdf files properly. Also, if they have a pop up stopper as part of their security suite, itmay cause a problem. They should hold the CTL key down at the time as clicking on the link to print their documents! In any case, they can take care of things at the dock
Shogun Posted August 24, 2012 #12 Share Posted August 24, 2012 Hi There For a number of years it was only folks in the US that could print boarding passes, as such we never had any problems, getting checked in. yours Shogun
thinfool Posted August 24, 2012 #13 Share Posted August 24, 2012 It really is not unlike an air ticket. If you can't or don't print your boarding pass at home, you can do it at the airport, no problem. Still, it would be nice if it worked.
aaerobear Posted August 24, 2012 #14 Share Posted August 24, 2012 All you need is your passport to check in. With everything entered in advance, all you need to do is have your passport scanned and you are on your way. BUT!!!!!! if you have not accepted the electronic signature on the personaliser for your Credit card, you have to have a signed boarding pass (or fill one out at check-in). Also if you have not provided all the pertinent information in advance, you need a boarding pass or need to have all the information entered by the agent at the pier.
