Any cruise lines accept pets?

On our Allure cruise (RC) in June there was a little white dog, that while it could have been a service dog not really sure it was.

We saw the dog mainly in the casino, with both husband and wife, although neither were too far from each other. Also saw it one night at dinner , with a little bow in its hair being passed around the table to each diner as they ate. I would not have been to happy to be the next person sitting at that table. The waitstaff would stop by to say hello to the dog each time they passed. We did mention our displeasure to both the dining room staff and on our comments card. The staff apologized but said nothing more.

We did see the "box of grass" out by the running track.

You are correct about hotels. We've traveled with our cats and have stayed in hotels that have allowed them (a couple in DC). I don't think a lot of people look to see if hotels allow pets and actually avoid them. JMO

We do miss our cats when we travel. But if we brought them, we'd be to scared they would run out of the stateroom when the room was being cleaned or jump for a bird from our balcony! I guess we could kettle them when the room is being cleaned, but what a pain. And I'm not sure the cruise line would want to carry litter for us. :p

Raising my hand...ME! If I'm looking to book a hotel room and the hotel accepts pets, I click away and go to the next.

Sorry, I don't want to hear or smell your beloved pets. I have enough of that at home with dogs all around in back yards, barking all day and the neighbors cat using our yard as their potty.

We were on a Celebrity cruise about 5 years ago, the Constellation I think, and there was this gorgeous woman (may have been a man, "she" was huge) decked out to the nines carrying around a little dog, like a shihtzu or something. The dog was definitely real. "She" was the center of attention, beautifully dressed in designer gowns, long strands of pearls etc. Never saw her anywhere but in the cocktail lounges. Got a lot of free drinks (and stares) from guys, that's for sure...Often wondered how she managed that, figured she was maybe the captain's chick...:)

I just put out the trash and found somebody had deposited their dog's poo in the receptacle. That's a new one on top of the common neighborhood dog nuisances. I have concluded that many dog owners are totally crazy nut cases and I can do without them bringing their little darlings to hotels and cruise ships.

I'm glad that you take the time to check if pets are allowed at hotels. I'm not to sure that many people check on this.

We don't travel with our cats often (it is usually out of necessity). Last year we dragged them with us when I had to work in DC. There was a hurricane brewing and we didn't know if we would need to flee Virginia or go back home. If we needed to flee, we wanted our cats with us to save the step of driving back to get them. Needless to say, we experienced an earthquake in DC, then decided to race back home after work to deal with the hurricane approaching and prepare. It was the craziest week of our lives.

Avoid the Westin in Dulles in Washington DC. They allow pets and we did take ours there last year. They do charge a big clean up fee if it is needed. We weren't charged anything.

I would love to cruise with my dog...a bassett hound named Rougeau. A. it would just be fun to tour the Caribbean with him,...(imagine a 40 lb bassett hound snorkeling) but more importantly, B. it would put an end to the week-long, "You left me, so I'm going to pee all over the house just for the hell of it" revenge he reigns down upon my house. :D

Am just trying to picture some scenes such as dogs at the lifeboat drill (will the SOLAS rules be changed to mandate cat and doggie life jackets). And then what would happen if a dog went overboard? Would the ship have to spend hours searching for the pooch and would the Coast Guard send out helicopters (if within range). Perhaps they would have a new drill called "doggone" or something similar. And what about birds! Many folks have pet birds so should we have birds on ships? And then there are the pet skunks, pigs, hamsters, etc. Do you think we should allow the pet pigs to dine in the MDR or only in the alternative restaurants? Hmm. Perhaps they would need to have specialty restaurants for dogs (called "Doggie Haven"). And do you think that daily tips should be extended to pets? And would the birds need to pay a supplement to get a birdie flying license? It all boggles the mind :) And how about the gay pets? Would the cruise lines have to have a gay pets cruise? And would dogs have to dress-up on formal nights? It just goes on and on.

Oh, that brings back such a memory for me. Our beloved Keeshond had never been kenneled because our pets either traveled with us--camping or visiting family only, no hotels--or we had a family member or our daughter home with him and our darling cat.

One camping trip we did a day and evening at Disneyland, where they have/had a fantastic day kennel. Our two babies stayed with them all day and evening and were spoiled rotten by the staff. We knew because we sneaked over to check and then later took the dog for a little walk. Of course, both pets let us know in no uncertain terms that we had "abandoned" them for the day. As we were taking them out to the van at the end of the evening, the dog decided to show his displeasure by stopping dead center of the entrance to the park and pooping. Not embarrassing or anything. At least I had a little poop bag in my backpack so I could pick it up, tie it closed, and deposit it appropriately.

Haha...dogs are good at unconditional love and revenge when you don't appreciate their unconditional love. :D

Hotels/motels, why not? My dog is at least as well-behaved as some kids I know, if not more. Ever been next to a room with a screaming child? I've had my neighbors tell me they never hear her when I'm gone, she's that quite. And unless no one ever puts their shoes on the bed (and we all know they do) than she's probably cleaner because she isn't allowed on other peoples furniture without some kind of cover or blanket that I bring with me.

Yes, she's my little darling. I take her with me all the time. Road trips, yeah. Camping, of course. But on a cruise, or any destination based vacation? Umm, no. She would hate it and so would I.

Well, our 150lb Great Dane has his bags packed and is coming with us on our Med. cruise in Sept. He'll enjoy the breezes on the balcony and our walks in Port. I was going to pack his bed but the couch in the cabin will do fine for him. He just loves to sail with us.;)
