caribill Posted September 21, 2012 #26 Share Posted September 21, 2012 Thanks! If I take chips or cash for the casino from the onboard account, is there a charge? For instance, this past summer on RCI, if I wanted to take a cash advance from my onboard account there was a 3% charge. hm.... maybe this is just a way to tell me that I should stay away from the casino! ha! There used to be a 3% charge for chip purchases, but some have posted (for US based ships) that this no longer occurs. Nobody has posted about that for the Australian based ships, so there may or may not still be a charge. Using a slot machine and downloading money to the machine (and then to your cruise card) from the onboard account has never had a fee added to it. You can then get cash by bringing the cruise card to the casino cashier. I do not know if the Australian based ships have this system in place or not. miagirl Posted September 22, 2012 #29 Share Posted September 22, 2012 I'm glad I saw this thread. We're booked on the Sun - Round Japan in July of next year. I hadn't any idea that the cabins would be wired for Australia. So good to know. I also didn't know that everything would be in AUS $. Everything I have shows US$. I do believe that they are also pricing things out in Japanese yen. (I don't do currency conversions very well.) We'd been planning bring a power converter for Japan. What does the AUS plug look like? thanks! Nan
GHDPeter Posted September 22, 2012 #30 Share Posted September 22, 2012 the only difference is the Sun Princess doesnt have anytime dining and the currency is in AUD and you will need an adapter to charge your mobile phone, camera etc or bring a power board the Sun's a nice ship and hope you enjoy yourself The cabins still have one US socket on the desk and one AUS socket behind the TV, the voltage however may be 240v as we use in Australia, I'll check when I'm on board in 4 weeks
Aus Traveller Posted September 22, 2012 #31 Share Posted September 22, 2012 The power on the Sun/Dawn/Sea Princess is 240 volt. :) Most re-chargers for cameras, shavers or telephones will operate on this OK.

Is this true for the USA type outlets also? And doesn't the outlet in the bathroom have the option of either voltage depending on which holes are used?
