I just got a call ( pre-recorded ) from Carnival asking that I arrive at the ship Sunday between 130-330 "for a smooth check in process."

 

That is MUCH later than I planned...

 

Is this just a suggested thing they do? To try and space people out?

Enjoy you 1st cruise. We plan on getting to the port around 11AM for our cruise- I think those are just suggestions. You may encounter a long line, but once they start boarding - it moves quickly. Make sure you come back & tell us about your cruise. Good luck, have a great time.

We always ignore the time frame because I want to get onboard as soon as possible to start that vacation! We usually arrive at the pier around 11:00 and are onboard for lunch.

Having said that, we go with the understanding there will be a line and we will wait.

So that is why they called twice on my cell phone this am and left no message. I have a suite (not trying to brag but only to explain why the call made no sense to me).

 

And I won't whine I promise.

I've gotten that call in the past, too. I've always ignored it and we just get there when we get there. They're not going to keep you off the ship. I think it would be cool to be the first one on the ship one day.:)

We did that once on the 2nd leg of a B2B, it's pretty cool. Since we've been Platinum, we're one of the first handful on the ship, you can't embark before the handicapped folks or weddings tho.:D
