What food is included?

Varies by ship on the extras. All ships have the main dining room and the Lido buffet. Destiny has a sub shop, a chinese shop (that was AWESOME!), then an omelet shop in the a.m., burger grill, pizzaria that also had salads open very late at night, free ice cream/yogurt, sushi on certain nights by the casino, midnight Mexican pool party buffet one night, chocolate dessert party one night. Also at Half Moon Cay, they include an awesome lunch of jerk chicken, burgers, different salads, so much fruit and dessert. SO much food always. The MDR is also open for breakfast and lunch on certain days, dinner every night. They said the average cruiser gained 12 pounds! Thankfully I wasn't average. :) I used the stairs everywhere, no elevators. Then used the rule no potatoes, no bread, no pasta (I'm diabetic also....so those aren't great choices for me anyway) and I gained 3. Not too bad for a week of fun!

Just the main dining room?

Just the main dining room?

Always sad to see a question like this. It was not too long ago that ALL the food was included.

It is SO confusing these days, people are posting, thinking the MDR is not included in their fare, and eat in the Lido restaurant all week.

Bypass the elevators and take the stairs! We do it everytime and come back home fit as a fiddle...well....we're not carrying back more weight! lets just say that! lol. :D
I don't think my Pride mobility scooter would like that:eek:

I noticed on the list that is says there's an Oceanside BBQ on the Lanai on Dream. Is this something new that I missed when we sailed in 2010? Is it every day?

We don't gain any weight. We eat better on the ships. I don't have to cut up fruit or make a salad. We walk alot more. And since we are on the ships 95 days this year, we rarely have desert.

I actually got to my lowest weight after our British Isles cruise (12 days). We ate what we wanted to in moderation, but we walked, walked, walked so much on land that we burned it off. It was great! I wish I could be my post-cruise weight right now, LOL! We normally do Atkins but I was looooving having bread with dinner and having the tiny desserts. I was shocked that I was able to lose 6 pounds in those two weeks. If only I had time to walk 4 miles a day here at home. :D

Also, several of the ships have a Fish & Chips counter. The fries are okay, but I wish they had some hush puppies to go with the fish. And some coconut shrimp would be a nice touch. Hmm, suddenly I have a craving for seafood.:)

I think we will have seafood tomorrow in honor of this thread. We always eat at fish & chips a coupk,e of times.

I eat pretty much what I want to on a cruise, and I tend to come back a little lighter than when I started. It isn't really the food that gets you fat, it is those sweet azz drinks that people guzzle 3 or more a day for 7 days.

Eat your bread, Melting Chocolate Cake, buffet foods, 2 a.m. room service, midnight pizza, etc, just mix in the fresh fruit, vegetables, the salad and the yogurt when you can. . . and stay away from drinking 6 cokes and 4 Fun Ships a day and you will be fine. I hit the Bon Voyage department, buy 1 1L 1800 Tequilla Resposado and mix that with my Sprite Zero that I bring on board . . . . and I get my buzz on. I usually buy a couple of "fruity alcoholic drinks" while on board and on the islands during the week as well, but some people overdo it because they are "on vacation". Too sweet and too many calories to be drinking those type of drinks like they are water.

You don't need to hit the gym either (I don't know what the gym looks like on the ship). . . you do ALOT of walking on the ship, and combined with the amount of walking usually done on the islands and the swimming in the ocean and pools . . . and the heat causes you to sweat alot more and you burn a good amount of those calories that you have added.

I don't gain any weight on a cruise. Just because all that food is there doesn't mean you have to eat it. I also am one that takes the stairs and avoids the elevators whenever possible.

I eat similar to at home, maybe even better because I'm not the one that has to cook and spend my time grocery shopping. :p
