Louis Olympia/Thomson Destiny Already Dropped by Louis?

Recommended Posts

One of the companies mentioned in the Louis press release is Steps of Paul Cruises. This is exactly what Globus are offering. Faith based holidays. I notice they are based in the USA. Maybe they don't pay their bills or are a con operation?

Globus tours own cosmos, appears to be a big company

These faith cruises are being sold by the Canadian leg of the company. And just to correct myself on looking again at Cosmos UK cruises, Louis are coming up for sale but they are for the 4 night cruises departing Pireaus on another ship. The Louis Olympia faith cruises are not currently appearing for sale on that site.

So, following this advice, I contacted Louis (UK and Greek office) to understand if I could book myself on this Globus tour as I wanted to specifically travel on the Louis Olympia in 2013. I heard nothing back at all from Louis, but they obviously passed my email onto Globus. I took a look at the Globus website and the "cruise" element is just part of the package tour they are offering - it is part hotel with a 3 / 4 day cruise element built into the itinerary. Globus contacted me directly and stated that this particularl holiday is running, but the cruise element is on the Louis Crystal not the Olympia.

So, what on earth is happening to our old friend the Destiny????? Surely not the scrappers?!

not old enough for the scrappers i would have thought. if the engines are OK she could go on for years.

lets be controversial, in the Q&A it was asked if the Destiny would return to the Thomson cruises fleet. The answer was no

nobody asked the question - would the Destiny join the Island cruises fleet :D:D:D

I agree - that is a fair point. BUT - why didn't they let destiny run for her cruises this year, and then make the migration to Island Cruises, and bring in the Majesty at the same time?? Making a much cleaner switch surely would have been better to do vs the mess that has happened. On top, is Island Cruises that expandable to a second ship? The Escape is laid up over the winter, so I would have thought that its not that expandable - unless of course the Destiny is going to replace the Island Escape altogether. Plus the Destiny really only has 1 restaurant and a cafe. I would have thought the Island Escape is much better equipped on the dining front for the Island Cruises brand.

I believe in addition to the mdr which is already set up for buffet dining with 2 long serveries in the middle and could be split into two there are the 2 wing areas aft which have their own access and could be specialist dining rooms. Can the mdr/wings feed all the passengers in the equivalent of 2 sittings? Yes it can because formal night sittings were catered for. So you could feed everyone each evening without having to use the top deck buffet!

I think thet always intended to swop Destiny and Majesty but either Louis wanted to do it 6 months early or more likely Thomson where panicked into it be falling scores in destiny's customer feedback. That open buffet was the killer

If you look back at the answers on the Q&A i think thats correct Davecttr ;) , it was the poor scores on the Destiny that made them replace her that quickly. Cant rem exactly which question/reply but FE def said something along those lines.

Maybe even they dont know what they are doing yet re IE, if it sells or has sold they possibly have a few options, Destiny ( with a few changes ) included.:confused:
